same problem you get looking at volume stats in any sport. volume alone doesn't necessarily represent a player's value/impact, because it's heavily dependant on other factors like team playing style, and supporting cast. you can mitigate those two things somewhat by normalising against number of plays faced, and then within each defensive unit, look at the proportion of plays made or something like that.
probably too complicated to really work it all out though. like how defensive backs are hard to appraise accurately due to the limitations in the available stats.
still, this is a nice starting point and an interesting way to attempt to assign tangible value to things that a lot of people likely overlook. even if it primarily works for the front seven, it would be a strong addition to the league's collective analytical tools imo
