This is my apology on behalf of Sermo.
Opening up a chat to find out that his private messages are being broadcast to the entire league is a wild ride.
So let's talk.
Those are his words. And he will own them. Yes, he said these things. He thinks that we all have people we vent to. People we will say outrageous things to when we're fuming mad about something. Many of these things have also been removed from context and cherry-picked to show the worst.
He said things in a private chat. He said things when he was hurt, angry, frustrated, sad. He made jokes that were in poor taste.
He is sorry for anyone hurt by what he said. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, he is sorry.
Anyone affected who wants to talk through what he said and get closure on that is welcome to reach out to him directly.
To those who have concerns about his ability to act as functional human being after reading these messages, he understands your concerns. If you'd like to talk things through with a member of HO, you are welcome to reach out to one directly, but don't expect a reply anytime soon.
He's worked hard to separate things out for himself. There is Sermo the ISFL member, who does his best to remain impartial and fair. Who understands that you don't have to be the biggest fan of someone to work alongside them.
But behind the ISFL player Sermo, there is still a human being. One who has emotions and grudges and complicated interpersonal issues. This is not the Sermo that he brings to the table when he shows up to play speed survivor. This is the Sermo that he tries to check at the door so that he can get work done and do what's best for the league.
The ISFL has become a family for him, for good and bad. Just as he doesn't get on with his biological sister 100% of the time, it is impossible for him to get on with every single member of the league 100% of the time. But at the end of the day, he''d do anything to put his sister in a good spot, even when he doesn't see eye to eye with her. He'd do anything to put this league in a good spot. He won't pretend to be perfect. He thinks there's more than enough evidence that he's not floating around right now. He will say that he's human, capable of fault, and capable of admitting when he's in the wrong.
The things he said were not representative of my real feelings, but nevertheless, they were wrong of him to say.
He is sorry.
Sermo.
