Adam Mellott was a walk on athlete for Virginia Tech. He didn't get much playing time and really didn't get into football until after high school so he was not given a scholarship anywhere. He went to Virginia Tech since he was trying to become a Mechanical Engineer. In Mellott's junior year of college, Virginia Tech had a bunch of injuries to the Oline, so they hosted try-outs. Mellott, who had been training and practicing since his freshman year to try and make the team finally had his shot, and he was accepted on the team as a backup. He did not get a lot of starting time, but he did impress enough to be allowed to stay on the team for the next season. He was not the starter at first coming into training camp, but with how he had been in practice, he was clearly the best LT on the roster, and so Mellott got to finally become a starter. Mellott then proceeded to quietly have one of the most dominant Oline seasons in that year. Since he had only started one full season, he was still relatively unknown and overlooked. But this last season of his was enough to be noticed and invited to join the ISFL, where Mellott hopes he can become one of the greatest Oline players to ever play in the league.
