Luke Skywalker was down in the dumps. He loved all the holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, but the holiday he loved the most was Halloween, and it looked at though Halloween would be canceled this year.
“So no costumes? No parties?” he asked his sister who usually organized the most outrageous get-togethers.
“Sorry Luke, but you know with COVID going on, it just isn’t safe to throw a party this year.”
“What about the candy? Handing out the candy to the kids?” implored Luke.
“I think our neighborhood canceled it. There’s no way to hand candy out to kids that the HOA thought would be feasible.”
“Can I at least wear a costume?” asked Luke.
“Sure, but no one is going to see it unless you upload it online.”
And Luke trudged away sadly into his room.
A couple of days later, his dad knocked on the door. “Hey son, I can’t help but notice you’ve been down lately.”
“Oh, it’s just that I’m bummed there’s no Halloween this year dad,” said Luke.
“You know what I tell you son. There’s always another solution.”
Luke brightened up. “You really think so?”
“Sure,” said his dad. “Actually, why don’t you try this…”
And that is why, on Halloween, kids RSVP’s and lined up to run around the Skywalker lawn while Luke threw perfect spirals of candy into the kids trick-or-treating bags, bringing Halloween fun for everyone.
