Since he was drafted, Douglas Quaid’s physique has been the epitome of absolute perfection. He had 3% body fat and was a man of extreme discipline. This training camp was unlike any other. When Quaid showed up the first day, from a distance his teammates thought it was a different player. Was that offensive lineman Bruce Buckley? Was that a new free agent acquisition? Did we trade for somebody recently? None of the above. It was old Quaid coming off his third Ultimus win. As the cameras and media rushed over Quaid said he was not ashamed of his sub standard body image. “Listen everybody, I have the physical fitness of a sixth grader right now. I spent the entire offseason lounging and relaxing. I have been a part of many accomplishments with this franchise and I wanted to reflect on them, and motivate myself to keep grinding for the next few years.” “I didn’t put in the type of offseason training that I’m used to. I get paid to show up to work 16 times per year plus playoffs. When the whistle blows week 1 I will be ready.” Quaid is a great talent, perhaps age and success has gone to his head. We should not doubt him, tune in week 1 to find out.
