Hello All,
Seeing all of the hype and questions flying around made me think it would be cool to consolidate answers to some hotly debated questions regarding the rookie DSFL class that will be drafted to teams on Wednesday. In order to do so, I will post the questions here and then update with individuals answers if/when they choose to participate. Those participating can copy the questions and paste them into a reply and respond below. Please feel free to tag anybody in the class I may have missed. Thanks for participating/reading!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously you don’t have to give names, but are there certain teams you are really hoping you get drafted by? How many are there?
captjanko (Morpheus Czargyros - DE): Honestly there's one team I've been very active with in their locker room, for continuity I'd love to get drafted there. Otherwise, I really have no preference. I've seen probably another 2-3 locker rooms I really liked so any of those would make me happy.
RenoJacksonHS (Tessie "Josh Allen" Garciaparra - CB & President of Josh Allen Fan Club): A magician never reveals their secrets, also the Buffalo Bills.
siddhus (Ray the Manta Ray - LB): I'd say there is more teams that i want to be drafted to, than don't want to be drafted to, probably 6/8 teams I want to go to, which leaves two unnamed teams which I don't want to go to.
zayanm (Eric Hall - CB: I want to get drafted by any team that truly needs me and wants to win.
Netlandic (Jaycee Higgins - WR): I've really liked one team so far, great GMs and players too. But I also have several others that I either have sedimental value to or I've gotten a good impression from their discord
Southie (Lot Smith VIII - RB): Not particularly. Obviously everyone wants to play for a contender but I'm going to try to do my best regardless of where I play.
Michiganonymous (Spike Daniels - FS): I'm just excited to be drafted! But I will admit, there's three teams that I'll be paying extra-close attention to.
G2019 (Sconnie McKicks - K/P): Honestly, I definitely have a front-runner at this point, there is another team I would also be thrilled to suit up for, and then there are a number of teams I would be cool with representing, along with a few I'd rather avoid (cough, cough Portland, who didn't scout me). Regardless, I will absolutely bring my best for whatever team drafts me.
HalfEatenOnionBagel (Orpheus Czargyros - LB): I think there are certain teams I have jived with more than others throughout this process, some of them because I just happened to interact with them more, some of them just how the teams are and how they are run. But whatever team I land on I'll make it my own.
woelkers (Cedric Wilkins II - CB): Obviously I've spent some great seasons with multiple teams, but really I'm happy to play anywhere. There are great people all across the league.
Ismael8907 (DeCarr Rek - QB): Interesting to say the least. Actually luckily enough both of the teams i would love to play with(Nortfolk and Kansas City) have needs at QB. So im 90% sure i will go to one if those teams.
Greenbaynathan (Nathan Claflin - LB): yes their are 2, all I can say is one is in the north and one is in the south
CptGoosar (Mark Goodhead - TE): Being my first time creating a player, any of the teams are a win in my books, though if i had to choose one it would be the London Royals for the English connection!
MN_Moosey (Malcolm Savage - QB): There are only so many teams that need a player such as me. It will be fun to watch it all shake out. I know there are two teams that desperately need a quarterback as theirs got called up so those two would be the most likely.
TubaMasterFlex (Siaosi Multiauaopele - SS): I've had nothing but positive experiences with all of the teams that I've interacted with leading up to the draft. There are a few locker rooms and chats that I've been more chatty in, but I'm gonna bring my A game to any team that is willing to take the plunge and draft me.
nealpt (Cal Stevenson - S): I've seen a couple of good locker rooms and I hoping to get picked up by one of them. Though i am most looking forward to the new season no matter what team I am picked by
JaytheGreat (Jay Spears - S): There are a few that really stand out in their own ways, I'd say 3 or 4. I'd have no problem going to any of them.
Are you hoping to stick with your current position, or are you open to changing positions? If open to change, what are you open to?
captjanko (Morpheus Czargyros - DE): Sticking with DE and pretty hopeful future teams are cool with that.
RenoJacksonHS (Tessie "Josh Allen" Garciaparra - CB): Heck no, CB for lyfe, and i'm never stepping down as President of the club.
siddhus (Ray the Manta Ray - LB): Hoping to stay at linebacker, seems like a pretty fun position to be in!
zayanm (Eric Hall - CB): You have a better chance of finding a living chicken at KFC then convincing me to switch positions. CB for life.
Netlandic (Jaycee Higgins - WR): I'm not confident I want to at all, only if I really have to, but running back and quarterback are the only positions I would be willing to switch to
Southie (Lot Smith VIII - RB): I'm open to switching to any position on the offense except for offensive line. I don't know that I want to go back to defense after my last player was a defensive player. Though with the right offer, I could potentially become a secondary but there's more secondaries in this draft then running backs.
Michiganonymous (Spike Daniels - FS): Safety really feels like my most natural and comfortable position, but in high school I actually spent most of my time at linebacker. I'd have to pack on some weight, but if that's what my team needed from me, I could do it. I've also played a little receiver and running back before, but I prefer defense.
G2019 (Sconnie McKicks - K/P): I'm actually completely fine to switch positions. I'll do whatever it takes to help the team. As it stands, I think I'd like to avoid DT and OL, but otherwise, put me anywhere!
HalfEatenOnionBagel (Orpheus Czargyros - LB): Open to anything except Kicker or Corner
woelkers (Cedric Wilkins II - CB): I'll be staying at my current position. Laser gave too much to charity for me to be unfaithful.
Ismael8907 (DeCarr Rek - QB): If everything doesn’t go to plan as QB ill be willing t switch to anything but O line, D line, and K/p. I would love to play LB and WR and RB tho.
Greenbaynathan (Nathan Claflin - LB): Would prefer to stay, but if absolutely needed will move to edge or safety.
CptGoosar (Mark Goodhead - TE): I'm more than happy to swap position, though ideally I'd stay at TE.
MN_Moosey (Malcolm Savage - QB): Never. I will be the reverse of infinite and never switch from QB haha.
TubaMasterFlex (Siaosi Multiauaopele - SS): In an ideal world, I'll be sticking to strong safety. However, I'm willing to move anywhere on the defense for the good of the team.
nealpt (Cal Stevenson - S): I prefer Safety and Corner, but am open to switching positions
JaytheGreat (Jay Spears - S): I want to stick with S but I wouldn't mind possible switching to LB or playing as nickel CB but I'd rather stay at S.
What is more important to you: a winning team or a great locker room? Why?
captjanko (Morpheus Czargyros - DE): I love winning but have been enjoying a good locker room as of late. If I'm in a bad locker room, though, I'd prefer to be on a winning team at least.
RenoJacksonHS (Tessie "Josh Allen" Garciaparra - CB): Josh Allen.
siddhus (Ray the Manta Ray - LB): Whenever something similar to this is asked, I always go with the connected answer. Having a great locker room leads to having a winning team, which is why you see certain teams constantly winning, since a great locker room usually leads to more actives, which leads to more TP, which generally leads to more wins. But also wins are temporary, but getting drafted to a great locker room is permanent, you get to talk with those people as long as you stay in the league.
zayanm (Eric Hall - CB): I need both because that is what leads to success.
Netlandic (Jaycee Higgins - WR): A great locker room. You create memories with that, if you are a winning team with a terrible locker room there is no memories or value really except saying you won a lot, a locker room can create some more value and better chemistry
Southie (Lot Smith VIII - RB): In the past, I've always said on-field performance is what matters but I've started to rethink that recently. I think that what keeps players around isn't on field success as much as it is camaraderie. I'm a very private individual so I tend to downplay the social aspect of things due to my own inherent biases.
Also , what a great locker room is is also open to individual interpretation. Is a great locker room a sense of community or is it the ability to play each player to the best of their abilities? Is a team filled with actives who are unhappy because of their performance on the field better then a team that is half inactive but all the active players are happy because their team is successful?
Michiganonymous (Spike Daniels - FS): A great locker room, absolutely, because I'm a huge believer that attitude is performance. Without a great locker room, you won't have a winning team!
G2019 (Sconnie McKicks - K/P): Locker room for sure. As long as my teammates are putting in effort to get better, I'm happy. We all know 'sim gonna sim' and we can't always control the outcome on the field. What we can control is the atmosphere in the locker room, the support we give each other, and the connections and friendships we make!
HalfEatenOnionBagel (Orpheus Czargyros - LB): Great locker room. League is no fun if you don't have a good locker room, that's what it's all about. I am also very much of the mindset that fun and activity breeds success in these leagues.
woelkers (Cedric Wilkins II - CB): A great locker room. Too much potential for flux in this league to place too much weight on winning.
Ismael8907 (DeCarr Rek - QB): Great locker room is the pretty obvious answer. Even if we are winning and blowing out the competition a crappy and toxic LR will destroy most players morale.
Greenbaynathan (Nathan Claflin - LB): a good locker room, if the team doesnt like each other, how can they function to their full potential
CptGoosar (Mark Goodhead - TE): I would have to say the great locker room is more important. At least in my experience a great team atmosphere does in the end bread winning teams.
MN_Moosey (Malcolm Savage - QB): Winning is cool. I have to ultimus trophies and have lost twice in the ultimini. The real thing that makes the league tick is having a great userbase and hanging out with a bunch of cool people.
TubaMasterFlex (Siaosi Multiauaopele - SS): A great locker room is the most important part of the team. Without the foundation that a great locker room will provide, the team will fall apart at the first difficult thing that comes their way. I want to be part of a team that will be resilient and committed; a team that is willing to really gut it out when the going gets tough so the good times will taste even sweeter.
nealpt (Cal Stevenson - S): Id prefer to be on a winning team with and an engaging locker room, but them is something exciting about being on a rising team with a great locker room as well
JaytheGreat (Jay Spears - S): I think in the DSFL a great locker room goes farther then a winning team, so for me I'm going with a great LR.
With which pick do you think you will be drafted on Wednesday?
captjanko (Morpheus Czargyros - DE): Going to guess lucky number 7, first round.
RenoJacksonHS (Tessie "Josh Allen" Garciaparra - CB): 17th because Josh Allen.
siddhus (Ray the Manta Ray - LB): I think the 25th pick to like 30th pick is a pretty fair evaluation of where i will end up. I think most GMs should know me, which can either work into my favor, or completely remove me from their draft boards. Whatever happens, I promised myself to not be too mad on draft day, and just enjoy it.
zayanm (Eric Hall - CB): I have to be first CB off the board.
Netlandic (Jaycee Higgins - WR): I don't have an exact pick I think I'll go, but somewhere between 5-10 is my best guess
Southie (Lot Smith VIII - RB): I have no clue. I have a good amount of TPE but I'm not playing a position of need and I'm a recreate. I think those two factors will cause me to fall pretty far in the draft. It also depends how big the draft class is. If we're going by best player available? Probably the third or fourth round. Otherwise, I think fourth or fifth is more likely.
Michiganonymous (Spike Daniels - FS): I don't even dare to speculate, because I don't want to psych myself out. Obviously I think that I belong in the first round, because I think I'm the best safety in the draft! But I'll try not to panic if I slide down into the later rounds, and if that happens then I get to go out and prove all the doubters wrong!
G2019 (Sconnie McKicks - K/P): I love and hate to think about this at the same time, because it does give me some anxiety...haha. I'd like to think I'll be picked sometime in the 2nd round. If one of my two top choices pick me, I don't care where in the draft they get me
HalfEatenOnionBagel (Orpheus Czargyros - LB): The right one
woelkers (Cedric Wilkins II - CB): Hopefully something later than 16.
Ismael8907 (DeCarr Rek - QB): I have no idea. Im thinking any pick Norfolk or KCC has in the 3rd round
Greenbaynathan (Nathan Claflin - LB): I have no clue were I will be picked, I would obviously love to be 1st round, but I truly have no clue
CptGoosar (Mark Goodhead - TE): Ohh, the competitive side of me wants to say somewhere in the first round, though to be taken by a team that wants me would be an ideal result
MN_Moosey (Malcolm Savage - QB): I know it so I cannot say. #NoLeeks
TubaMasterFlex (Siaosi Multiauaopele - SS): I uh, forgot to answer this when I originally posted my response. Whoops! To answer the question, I'm really hoping to be a first round pick with all the expectations that will bring. My goal is to clean up in awards season and that starts with being the first safety taken off the board.
nealpt (Cal Stevenson - S): No idea?
JaytheGreat (Jay Spears - S): No idea probably the 2nd round though.
Do you have a favorite NFL team? College team?
captjanko (Morpheus Czargyros - DE): WTF I can't stop rooting for WFT. No college affiliations.
RenoJacksonHS (Tessie "Josh Allen" Garciaparra - CB): Wisconsin and Josh Allen.
siddhus (Ray the Manta Ray - LB): 9ers szn
zayanm (Eric Hall - CB): Fav NFL team: Atlanta. Fav college team: UGA.
Netlandic (Jaycee Higgins - WR): NFL I'm a huge Broncos fan, for college, go Huskies (Washington)
Southie (Lot Smith VIII - RB): I was a Steelers fan as a kid though I haven't watched football in several seasons.
Michiganonymous (Spike Daniels - FS): Michigan native, so I grew up cheering for the Lions and the Wolverines! (I learned to accept disappointment at an early age). And of course I'm always going to be a fan of my own Northwestern Wildcats!
G2019 (Sconnie McKicks - K/P): NFL - Casual Tampa Bay fan...followed them a lot more in the Alstott, Lynch, Brooks days. College - Wisconsin
HalfEatenOnionBagel (Orpheus Czargyros - LB): Detroit Lions. Forward down the field
woelkers (Cedric Wilkins II - CB): Minnesota born and raised.
Ismael8907 (DeCarr Rek - QB): Raiders. Utah utes
Greenbaynathan (Nathan Claflin - LB): Favorite NFL team Packers, Favorite college teams, wisconsin and virginia tech
CptGoosar (Mark Goodhead - TE): Always been a cheese head - Go Pack Go!
College is SMU
MN_Moosey (Malcolm Savage - QB): I used to follow the Vikes in my youth but I am an NDSU alumnus and thus will follow the Colts and 49ers with Wentz and Lance rostered.
TubaMasterFlex (Siaosi Multiauaopele - SS): IC: BYU until I die.
OOC: For the NFL, I'm ride or die for the Carolina Panthers. I'll always Keep Pounding! For college, I'm bleeding green and gold as a Charlotte 49ers fan.
nealpt (Cal Stevenson - S): Im a huge fan of the Washington Football team and The Buckeyes
JaytheGreat (Jay Spears - S): The Detroit Lions, and Michigan Wolverines
Lastly, and most importantly: If you were a “choice of potato”, which would you be (french fries, hash browns, baked potato, etc.)?
captjanko (Morpheus Czargyros - DE): Hash browns, no question. Trader Joes hash browns + 3 over easy eggs + salsa verde is consumed probably two to three times a week in my household.
RenoJacksonHS (Tessie "Josh Allen" Garciaparra - CB): Cheese fries in the shape of Josh Allen.
siddhus (Ray the Manta Ray - LB): Ideally I wouldn't want to be a potato, but if I was, french fries are the best potato creation
zayanm (Eric Hall - CB): French Fries.
Netlandic (Jaycee Higgins - WR): French fries (but like the McDonalds fries), most eaten and I would even argue most creative potato choice
Southie (Lot Smith VIII - RB): I'd probably the sort of potato that would be made into Vodka. I don't know if that's a particular type of potato but that's the potato I would like to be.
Michiganonymous (Spike Daniels - FS): Chick-fil-A waffle fries guy right here!
G2019 (Sconnie McKicks - K/P): I'm from Wisconsin, so cheese fries, for sure!
HalfEatenOnionBagel (Orpheus Czargyros - LB): I'd be just like a hardboiled potato if that even exists. Cause I'm bland as hell and full of starch
woelkers (Cedric Wilkins II - CB): Potato skins.
Ismael8907 (DeCarr Rek - QB): Baked potato.
Greenbaynathan (Nathan Claflin - LB): I would be a waffle fry.
CptGoosar (Mark Goodhead - TE): Now i would have to be a roast potato, no other potato has the same grace and charm that a roast potato has on cold Sunday evening in the middle of winter than a roast!
MN_Moosey (Malcolm Savage - QB): Ok, Imma be a little different. Regular potatoes are fine but I like to think that I am sweet potato homefries. And no brown sugar on those suckers. They are sweet enough. Hit em with garlic powder instead. Trust me.
TubaMasterFlex (Siaosi Multiauaopele - SS): This question required careful deliberation and hours of introspection. Ultimately, it was clear there was only one true answer: sweet potato casserole made with cinnamon, brown sugar, lots and lots of butter, and topped with pecans (properly pronounced as pea-cans).
nealpt (Cal Stevenson - S): Grandma's mashed potatoes all the way!
JaytheGreat (Jay Spears - S): Baked Potato with bacon and cheese on top

siddhus (Ray the Manta Ray - LB): I think the 25th pick to like 30th pick is a pretty fair evaluation of where i will end up.
