Oh Liechtenstein oh Liechtenstein how lovely are your castles. After his recent visit to Liechtenstein, @.simo was heard singing this refrain over and over to the tune of "Oh Christmas Tree" or "O Tannenbaum" depending on who you ask (it's the same tune). Why was this retired Fire Salamander singing such a strange song? Because Achtfunf decided he needed one last hurrah before hanging up his cleats. After falling short in the Ultimus in what would be his last professional football game, Achtfunf took his love of football, German, and apparently Christmas caroling to the tiny country of Liechtenstein for a one time only football training camp. People from all over the country came to see this event, as Achtfunf ran hand drills, agility training, strength challenges, and even a full on scrimmage with a group of youth and college students with ISFL aspirations. At the end of the event, Achtfunf called the group together and gave them a rally speech. He closed out the event with these words, "Football is a gift that isn't forever. Enjoy the hell out of your youth and play this game as often as possible. And then, when the time comes, pass that gift on to the people coming after you." We'll see what young stars may be traced to this camp in the future, but if nothing else, when asked how he was feeling at the end of the camp, Achtfunf said, "Closure. I feel like I have closure now on a terrific career. I hope even one of these kids gets to experience the journey I've been on over the last years, cause it's a hell of a ride."
