Chet was studying a part time course in highways engineering while working full time as a highway technician while he played for the Arhus Archous back in denmark. Had his amateur football career never taken off in quite the way that it ended up going then he would probably be running a maintenance and operations team for the Jutland municipal authorities. driving around the road network ensuring pot-holes are fixed, knowing all the best off-highway cafes, all the back-route shortcuts across the country, and generally having a fairly chill time of it all.
I am not sure if this would have been wholly satisfactory with regards to Chet's ambitions in the world. He likely would have continue to play, and maybe eventually coach one of the teams in the European gridiron competition. And maybe this would have sparked a drive to make something of it. maybe he leaves the public authorities and starts a small contracting business, maybe he grows that into a middle tier contractor serving civil construction in denmark. maybe that gives him the financial stability to take some risks with the European gridiron scean.
