We all carry secrets within ourselves. Secrets which define us. Secrets which have informed us. At best, or at worst, the very act of hiding an integral feature of our history has itself further carved out an essential essence of our soul. The reminders of the shame, the practiced precision in hiding the truth, we have spent so long keeping the secret that we can not imagine life without continuing the facade. After all, we fear who we might be if the secret was out and now we do not know who we might be once the secret is revealed.
But secrets live. They are forever hanging over our head, the axe on the pendulum. Secrets die not by being buried deeper into our soul but instead by fire. Only under the sun, for peering eyes to see, do secrets burn to death. Once the secret is out, it is not exactly a secret, and we are not exactly the same.
And so with caution I reveal my secret. While some have guessed this about me, only I can fully reveal it. I rarely write before midnight nor do I review or edit my works more than once. I just write, read, and submit in a sleepy slumber.
