Tier 2: Short Form Tasks (Each must be 300+ words)
Option #10
I was originally an Orange County Otter when I started my journey in the ISFL, or as it was known back then the NSFL, in season one or two(hey, give me a break, it was a while ago). I’d created a Defensive End named JD Boom and despite not knowing much about the NFL or American Football in general, I enjoyed my brief time in the league. Unfortunately my life took a couple of unexpected turns which sadly meant I needed to carve out some more time for actual worthwhile real life things. I was quite disappointed in all honesty. I’d known some of those founding NSFL members for a few years and had formed some decent friendships along the way. Not many of those guys survive in the ISFL now, but I’ve met some new users and tried to establish myself as a useful member that can contribute if or when needed.
I returned to the league on a whim, creating a Tight End for no particular reason, although if I had that choice again, I’d select something else. It’s not exactly a position that’s much respected, although I hear that future buffs in the sim engine may finally give the position the respect that it rightly deserves. I was picked up by the London Royals and thoroughly enjoyed my time there and produced some decent stats playing the TE position. I also made a ton of GFX which helped my bank account, which has helped me to be able to afford maximum equipment purchases along the way.
After London, I was drafted to San Jose where I was TE2/Backup and while a good bunch of guys in the Locker room, an ill-advised “In Character” media spot saw the situation deteriorate and Buffalo Hunter ended up moving to the Colorado Yeti. Again, I probably expected too much and when the stats didn’t eventuate despite the aerial attack from Caliban, I thought that I needed to move again and signed with Yellowknife as the replacement for star Wraith TE, Zee Rechs. I was expected to pick up where he had left off, but in the first year, Hunter proved to be a dud. Then with future superstar Dustin Parmalee taking the reigns of the Wraiths, Hunter was going to provide an outlet for the developing QB. The addition of new receivers in Yellowknife was also a factor in me opting out of my third and final year, and once again testing Free Agency. There is also the possibility that I take a break or simply don’t sign anywhere and retire. The reputation that I’ve now developed as a player/user that will not commit long term to a team, has ingrained itself and damaged what was once a solid sim league reputation. From the ASFL sim league that was my first, back in 2002, I’ve now(obviously) been doing sims for 20 years and I feel that my reputation in the community is possibly at it’s lowest point ever. Maybe it’s a sign that it’s time to leave, find a new hobby or devote myself to something else. Who knows?
Whatever happens, thanks to all those who make sim leagues possible, through hard work, dedication and the desire to create somewhere to escape to.
Tier 3: Written/Graphics Tasks (Each must be either 150+ words or a graphic)
Option #18. Graphic
Option #23. Create a billboard, magazine cover, unique trading card, or video game cover depicting a one of the league's stars.
