This is my first year in the DSFL. What’s better then a sporting event for charity? Starting your own and that is how it started. With my childhood friend and fellow DSFL player Austin Morley. The Inaugural Reed-Morley Pediatric Cancer Support Softball Game (RMPCSSG) was held in the Columbus, Ohio. All ticket sales were to directly support families of children struggling with cancer. The game was play on a wonderful Friday night. It was austin and me versus a team of kid who beat cancer. The kids would play the field first. Putting the Pros up to bat first. To say we played well is a understatement. The score shot up. Before you knew it was 60-0. Morley and me celebrated after each and every score. Parents shouted obscenities. The kids would not stop crying. But it was a good lesson for everyone. Always play to win. I know a lot of people are mad but it was for a good reason. Little did everyone know me and Austin agreed to donate $1000 a run. So with a empty ball park we did a impromptu game of ball to get to a nice round 100-0. All and all it was a great time. We were able to raise $205,000 for childhood cancer awareness.
