Nick Flint of the San Jose Saber Cats lined up all of the kids and started the camp playing red rover. The purpose of this exercise was to allow the kids to learn physicality and determination, two values that Flint uses in every game he plays as a line backer. Next, Flint spent the time to teach the kids how to properly tackle, in order to prevent themselves or their targets from getting injured so that they can have long careers. Then, Flint put the large kids up against the smaller kids and told the smaller kids to get past the larger kids. He taught them some hand techniques to be used to get past the larger, slower linemen. Finally, Flint had the kids run secondary drills, the final aspect of the line backer's job. He really wanted the kids to feel that they were getting a great, all around experience as a line backer in the the sport of football.
