Another season, another training camp to hold for the general public! As a defensive tackle, I know my position might seem the slowest, but it is actually the most impactful to a team's defense as the position can dictate a defense's run defense and how they can collapse the pocket on the QB. So, for this training camp, I decided to show high schoolers a couple of tricks to help boost not only their overall performance but to help their team's defense and teammates out. I showed them how to properly bull rush by putting one hand down and time the release of your hand with the snap so that you can get a head start without getting called for offsides. In addition, I showed them how they can be effective in coverage by showing that depending on the pass play, if you're instantly blocked, you can drop back into the passing lanes and help your LBs and DBs muddy up the passing lanes so that another one of them can rotate and sack/deflect the pass!
