At the the Stryker Brown football institute we teach two aspects of the game that seem to be lacking: selfless leadership and FUN! Football is a game. It was meant to be fun. So often guy play football for the glory of the game. They push themselves to the limit to be the best purely to gain notoriety. Most who play football for this reason burn out and never achieve the praise the hope for. The reason they burn out is because the return on hard work is slow and often the stress outweighs the rewards. Those that are motivated by fame and do achieve the level of play they dreamed of end us constantly worrying about the future because one injury or one bad season can strip all their glory away. However, those guys who play because the game is fun end up with less anxiety and often achieve more…because, after all, it’s only a game. And when players begin to play the game with the mindset of putting the good of the team above their own interest players work harder, schemes work more efficiently, and the team has more success. And success is always more fun than sucking!
