O'Connell & Tiernan raise the stakes
Following on from the European pairs bruising Twitter spat of a few days ago, top Running Back prospects, Luke "Lieutenant Smash" Tiernan and Scot Kieran O'Connell again took to twitter trading insults in a highly entertaining back and forth on the eve of the inaugural NSFL draft.
O'Connell took to twitter with an innocuous tweet to his followers, informing them of his plans to work out one final time before the big night of the draft.
Irishman Tiernan, who previously took offence to being referred to as slow by O'Connell, instantly shot out a scathing tweet, asking O'Connell if he had "moved on to the big boy weights."
O'Connell shot back quickly with a tirade of vitriol aimed at Tiernan's farming background and family. As the tweets went by, Tiernan took aim at O'Connell's lack of agricultural knowledge and what he termed O'Connell's penchant for "exagerated claims", while in turn O'Connell suggested that the Irishman was nothing more than a farmer's boy who would be scared to play football in a big city post-draft.
Perhaps the most hitting mark of all was when O'Connell claimed that Tiernan would go undrafted.
The man known as LT Smash arguably hit O'Connell strongest when he posted an amusing and seemingly Irish advertisement that purported to send up O'Connell, again with Tiernan seemingly looking to highlight his physical advantage over the all purpose running back out of Pittsburgh.

It appeared to all concerned that it was that post that brought things to a head as O'Connell laid out his cards, by proposing a wager that he would be selected ahead of Tiernan in the upcoming draft.
Given the power RB's recent rhetoric about being unconcerned about draft position, perhaps it was a proposal that O'Connell felt might go unanswered, leaving him one up in this war of words.
Indeed it looked like that may be the case, as in his next tweet Tiernan finally gave O'Connell a compliment, even if it was back handed in nature, but did state again his apathy towards all talk of draft positioning.
But perhaps Tiernan couldn't help himself, or perhaps he just feels it is a bet that he is not going to lose, he accepted it, with one final barb at his Scottish counterpart.
And as if the viewing public needed another reason to tune in tonight at 6pm, there you have it. Whether it is the first round or the last, set's of eyes around the world will be keeping a special eye on the prospects of these two Europeans.
