"Dang damn it Eric where is my passport?" Jack McPherson asks his prankster of a younger brother Eric aa he looks around for his passport to head back to Yellowkinfe in Canada "you know that I have to head back to get to OTA's!"
"I'm telling you Jack I didn't do nothing to your dang passport!" Eric yelled back "but I do know who had it last! Say you're sorry and I'll tell ya"
"Fineeeee" Jack sighs "Eric I am sorry, now can you please tell me who had my passport last"
"Thank you." Eric smiles "I saw Ma have it last, I think she might want to talk to ya"
"Ma huh?" He sighs "wonder what this is about..." He heads out to his mother Erica's room and knocks on the door "Ma! I need my passport back please, Eric said you had it last"
"Dang it Eric" he barely hears her sigh before she opens the door, passport I'm hand "I know you need this back honey, but I just wanted to tell you goodbye before you leave again"
"Awww Ma you know I would have said goodbye. I always say goodbye." Jack smiles a bit
"I know but...I just..." she then breaks into tears and hugs him "you're all just so grown up! I mean Eric will be moving out soon, and the rest of you're siblings have already moved out! Soon it will just be your father and I, and I will really miss you all!"
"Awwww Ma!" He hugs her back "I completely understand what you are saying, but eventually all birds have to leave the nest. It is just how it is. You know that I call you and Pa a lot and keep up with you, and I send you a lot of stuff. I'll always be in your thoughts, and that is true of all your kids. Also you have Pa to keep you company. Maybe y'all should try to go on a vacation at some point?"
"A cruise does sound nice" Eric says before smiling "thanks for saying all of that kiddo I really needed to hear that"
"Heh, I'm so grown yet you still call me kiddo"
"You may be a big and bad ISFL linebacker now, but you are still my kiddo." Erica smiles, then hugs him again "say goodbye to your Pa and the rest of your family, and we will see you when you come back to this little town of Fairdale, ok?"
"Absolutely Ma. Thanks for all the food, and I will see you I get back." A couple of hours later, Jack McPherson is on a plane to Yellowkinfe in the Northwest Territory of Canada. As you might imagine, it was going to be a long flight so Jack puts on some headphones and an audio book about the history of computer before starting to settle into a relaxing position on his chair. However, before he could get completely settled, a woman near him taps him gently on the shoulder.
"I am so sorry to bother you sir" the brunette woman with glasses and a very powh English accent says to him, looking apologetic "I know that I am not supposed to interrupt people when they are trying to relax, but I am moving to Yellowkinfe and I am wondering if there is any notable landmarks in the town?"
"I mean, there is the Yellowkinfe Wraiths ISFL football team, but other then that there is mostly only local shops and restaurants" Jack answers, pausing his audio book and looking very curious
"Well I guess it truly is a small town, and I do honestly wonder how there is such a big time football team there. I mean, where would you even put a pitch?"
"Miss, it is definitely not that kind of football team" Jack chuckles
"Ahh I see it is American football?" She asks as Jack nods "Well my question still stands ether way, as American football stadiums are rather large from what I have seen"
"Well people of Yellowkinfe and all over Canada keep shares of the team. From what I understand, it is the only team that is allowed to do that, however I might be wrong on that."
"Ahh I see, that is very interesting." She smiles "this town certainly seems different from London"
"It definitely is" Jack chuckles "are you here on vacation or to see friends and family?"
"Well no I am moving out here to live with my sister" she replies "but I guess it is kind of seeing family as I will be seeing my sister quite a lot now"
"That is a very odd move" Jack says, surprised "any particular reason why?"
"Well I needed to move out of the house and I got a job in Yellowkinfe at a law firm. My sister works at the same law firm, so it was pretty easy to male a decision to move there."
"I see." Jack smiles "My name is Jack by the way. Jack McPherson."
"Oh nice to meet you! I am Abigail Andrews. Your name sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't put my finger on why"
"Heh I see" Jack chuckles before going back to his audiobook. The flight was nearly done when he suddenly receives a much more frantic tap on the shoulder from Abigail, who was holding up a picture of him from a sports news piece
"I am terribly sorry for bothering you again sir, but I just had to look up your name and I see why you know so much about the Wraiths! You play for them!"
"Took you long enough to figure that out, Miss." Jack chuckles "but yes, I am a linebacker for the Yellowkinfe Wraiths. I am flying back here from my home town of Fairdale Kentucky in the States to here for OTAs and to get ready for the season."
"I'm sorry it is just that I have never met someone as famous as you!" She gawks "even if I honestly don't know much about the sport you play, it is fascinating!"
"If I was in your position I would be absolutely star struck as well." Jack smiles as the plane begins to decend into the Yellowknife Airport. "Well we are about to be separated, but here is my number as I would love to talk to you again once I am free to do so"
"Oh I will call you when I am able to, or you could call me! Have a good day Jack!" The two of them wave to each other as they head out of the airplane.
Pet talk!
I am sure that most people here know about my pet African grey parrot Jackson and my pet Yorkie Shih Tzu mix dog Gizmo as I do share pictures of them both a lot. However I don't know how many people know my details about the two of them and this media task will be a great opportunity to do so. First, let's talk about Jackson, who is my Stepmom's bird that moved in with us when she and my dad got married. Jackson can be a sweet bird, but is rather shy when meeting new people and will often stay silent before getting comfortable and starting to chirp and talk.
Before you ask, yes Jackson can speak human words. Some of his favorite words are "Jack-Jack good boy" and "Back up", both in my voice. You see, Jackson can mimic human speech pretty damn well and will copy what you say if you say it enough around him for his bird brain to remember it. This, along with his rather long lifespan, is one of the reasons why I always tell people to be absolutely sure before deciding to get a parrot like him. Another reason you should be careful is that these birds can get extremely LOUD. This will get on your nerves, amd you need extreme patience to deal with it.
As for Jackson himself, I think he has gotten to the point where he now mostly trusts me. He will let me play with his beak and give him food and clean his water bowl. I can also pet him as long I pay enough attention to him as to know if he will nibble on me. He is an absolutely lovely bird and I do love him despite how annoying he can occasionally be. Now we can switch to Gizmo, who is the complete opposite of Jackson when it comes to meeting strangers.
Gizmo LOVES getting pets and loves licking faces. He also loves barking, a LOT. He will bark at you, other dogs, other animals and sometimes just a noise that he heard. We got him a couple of years ago or so from a military family who were moving overseas and could not keep him. His original name was also Jackson, so we changed it to Gizmo to telk the two apart and also because he looks like a gremlin with his ears up. He is an absolute joy to have despite his occasional flaws and has a habit of laying down on these blankets I have laying behind my chair in my room.
At the end of the day, I really love my two pets. They are very quirky amd unique and I love taking care of them. I have had pets almost my entire life with my first dog Coco having been there since I was a baby before she passed away and I also had two cats when I lived near Cincinnati in Erlanger named Lilly and Bubblegum. I also had a pug beagle mix named Mugsley when I lived in apartments with my mom and sister. To me, well animals are precious and must be protected.
