New York City, the live entertainment capital of the world, should have no shortage of ideas for how to entertain guests during halftime. Somehow, however, they did. Mandrews McHollywood was approached as part of a team effort to raise ideas for the upcoming season for each weeks halftime, and this was his suggestion:
Mandrews himself is a fan of ancient history, and more specifically, a fan of ancient entertainment. Looking into what people of the past did to pass the time is a favorite pastime of McHollywood’s and that’s where his idea emerged. In ancient roman times the colosseum was designed to be flooded for ship battles and that was Mandrews’s suggestion. Now obviously the Silverbacks stadium was not built for water events but making a waterproof bowl-style section placed in the middle of the field was simple enough. Add in some modern ships and bob’s your uncle you have a halftime show!
