As I settled into my first full season in the DSFL, my expectations were a roller coaster ride. I had mentally prepared myself to be the barbarian of blocking, and took to that role early. As the season progressed, I started to doubt my effectiveness and thought that I wasn't playing much of a role at all in our team's success. My amazing coaches gave me more opportunities in the passing game as a result, which my quarterback Creg Jerrith Jr opted to ignore. But all was not lost, as I began to notice that in the games where I was set on the wings with the WRs, our overall offense wasn't nearly as efficient at scoring and maintaining long drives. I stepped back into my role as blocker with my fellow O-linemen and noticed that our timing was back to allowing us very good opportunities on offense (despite still not being thrown to by Mr. Jerrith). All in all it seems like my position makes a rather large impact in every way but stats. But it's a team sport, and I'd gladly trade individual accolades for wins. [188 words]
