It’s now been two full seasons on the field for the wide receiver class of season 36, so how have they done? Who’s been the best overall? Who’s the best value? Has anyone stopped earning? Let’s find out!
The Class:
Zaphod Beeblebrox-AUS-R1P2
PeePee Poop-Eater Sr. (formerly Don Dobbler)-NOLA-R1P4
Thomas Robinson-OCO-R1P10
Sconnie McSix-SAR(BAL)-R1P14
Octavio Perez-BER(HON)-R2P18
Austin Morely-CHI-R2P19
Mandrews McHollywood-NYS-R3P31
Derrick Prince-PHI-R4P50
Rockbot Rockbo-NOLA-R4P55
Rerry Jice-FA(COL)-R6P71
Payton Wilhelm-FA(SJS)-R6P77
Overview:
Some interesting things to note just 2 seasons into the life of this professional class:
4 players out of 11 are not on their original teams
2 of those are inactive users who were cut
The other 2 were traded after just one year with their squad
So we have 11 total receivers, realistically only 9 were expected to earn in any capacity, so let’s see how that earning has panned out, shall we?
Earning Rankins
Zaphod Beeblebrox-834 TPE
Austin Morely-829 TPE
Thomas Robinson-820 TPE
Mandrews McHollywood-819 TPE
Sconnie McSix-817 TPE
Octavio Perez-812 TPE
Rockbot Rockbo-732 TPE
Peepee Poop-Eater Sr.-682 TPE
Derrick Prince-625 TPE
Rerry Jice-94 TPE
Payton Wilhelm-71 TPE
So at the top of the class the top earner matches the first pick, a good sign for Austin as their premium choice of a draft pick has so far panned out, at least off the field. But then we immediately run into the first major dissapointment of the class for the New Orleans Second Line, with the man formally known s Don Dobbler falling from the second pick in the draft, to the 8th best earner of the group, falling down a whopping 7 spots beating out only 1 other active player. Then it’s right back on track with Thomas Robinson being both the 3rd pick in the class and the 3rd best earner for Orange County. Sconnie is technically one spot below his draft spot finishing 5th after being picked 4th, but it’s a bit misleading as he’s only 2 TPE below the next best earner in Mandrews McHollywood. Next up is the first non-first rounder of the class in Octavio Perez, who jumped ship from the tanking Honolulu Hahalua to join the eventual runner-ups in Berlin, and also falls just one spot below his draft position, finishing 6th after being the 5th receiver taken. After that we have one of the two reasons why these receivers are slightly below where they’d like to be, with Austin Morely jumping up a whopping 4 spots to grab the second place slot just 5 TPE below Zaphod, and making Chicago very happy with their steal of a draft pick indeed. There was a slight break between receivers taken as 11 players came and went before Mandrews McHollywood was grabbed by the New York Silverbacks with the 31st pick, and is the second of two reasons as to why some of these players are below their draft standing, as he is 4th in the class and only 1 TPE behind Thomas Robinson for 3rd place. Philadelphia made the next receiver selection grabbing Derrick Prince in the 4th round, and as the pattern continues he is one spot below his draft position with a serious 57 TPE gap between him and Peepee, making for a difficult climb is he ever decides to step up his earning for the now formerly Philadelphia Liberty. Now we have the final player who has out-earned their position with Rockbot Rockbo, 50 TPE above Peepee and jumping up 2 spots making him great value for the back end of the 4th round. Then we round it off with the 2 players who earned enough to make it into the draft, but stopped earning soon after, with Rerry Jice and Payton Wilhelm finishing in the same spot as to where they were picked, though it hardly matters now as neither is on a team at the moment and likely will not be ever again
