8. This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S37 class and later. In 300 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented?
It’s been pretty enjoyable in the ISFL so far. I found out about it through the SHL, which I had joined in September, so sim leagues as a concept are really new to me. I had the same experience in the SHL, but everyone is so welcoming to newcomers. It makes it really easy to get involved when there are people who are willing to answer any questions you have. The draft experience was a little different than the SHL, in which the draft happened a week before the actual live draft presentation, which gives the people working on the presentation time to prepare it. It made the presentation a lot smoother than the SHL’s presentations have been, but on the other hand, the draft happening in one night is probably a more immersive experience for GMs, so there’s definitely some push and pull. As for my player’s start, I’m not exactly sure what to think. As a DFA, I was on the roster when the Norfolk Seawolves made it to the finals but unfortunately lost. I don’t even know what my stats were for that run, but I think I had a touchdown here and there. I don’t actually know football all that well, and I picked wide receiver for my position because they are one of the few positions that I kind of understand. I think touchdowns and yards are important stats? But as I said before I didn’t actually check my stats and even if I did I wouldn’t be able to understand what they actually mean. Hopefully throughout this player’s career I’m able to get a better understanding of the sport and meaningful statistics. As far as improvements for the league go, I feel unqualified to really say anything as I’m so new to sim leagues, but one of the best parts of my start to the SHL was getting a server for just my draft class, and there were a bunch of us in that class that got really close. In the rookie server for the ISFL, there’s a lot of people in it, I think there are some from the S39 class, plus all of the GMs, so it’s a lot more difficult to connect to the other members of the draft class.
19. Your team has announced that they will be laying ground on a new stadium next season. What additions would you like to see included in it?
If the London Royals were to create a brand new stadium, it would be great to really lean into the “Royals” theme of the team. Granted, I have no idea what the stadium actually looks like right now, but there is a lot of potential to have a really cool royalty-themed stadium. The security at the stadium should be wearing knight’s armor and wielding real swords. The concession workers should be wearing medieval themed clothing, and should sell medieval themed food. I also have no idea what medieval themed clothes and food looks like but there’s gotta be something there. The stadium should be designed as if it were a castle, and appropriately themed decorations will be hung up on the inside. There absolutely needs to be a moat on the outside of the stadium, and people will get to the inside of the stadium from a drawbridge. This is untapped potential for the London Royals.
26. if your player wasn't a professional in the ISFL/DSFL, what would they be doing instead?
If Mike Ehrmantraut wasn’t a professional in the DSFL, he would have a series of shady jobs. He would first be a Philadelphia police officer, but would move to Albuquerque after his involvement in corruption led to the death of his son. He would start in Albuquerque as a parking lot attendant in a courthouse, but would slowly get involved in the criminal underworld. He will take small jobs at first, but then start to get engaged in conflict within the cartel. He would then go to join the largest drug operation on the west side of the country, and spent months helping create a lab under a laundromat, the perfect cover. He would keep working with those people until the day he dies. He would do many unforgivable things on his journey, but he would believe he is justified because he is not keeping the money for himself, but is keeping it to support his daughter-in-law and his granddaughter, who would be in a tough financial situation after the death of his son. But none of this is real, because he is a professional in the DSFL.
