During Benjamin Duvernay's very first presser as a fully fledged player on the Portland Pythons roster, a question was asked that rubbed Duvernay the wrong way due to the reporter being a well known critic of the Pythons. "Do you feel that you have what it takes to be competitive in this league?" Although he thought it was a valid question at face value, the tone in which the reporter asked it made him feel like he was back in Middle school where he was bullied. Despite this, Duvernay had to swallow the pride that all too easily could have arisen from being the 20th pick of the draft and simply reply, "anyone who puts in the hard work to practice competing, scheming, conditioning, and truly becoming a student of the game will find that they will have what it takes to compete. I feel I have done that along with many other players in this league." The reporter did not say another word to him that week.
