8. This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S40 class and later. In 300 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented?
Coming into this league I wasn't entirely sure what to expect! I just happened to find a recruitment post off Reddit and was intrigued. The first day was a little slow figuring all the manual steps out, but I got there and got comfortable pretty quick. Thank goodness for what discord brings to the game. I am not exactly very vocal, but I check it for any relevant information and was able to follow along for all the game days!
Shout out to all my fellow Ducks! Our team discord was very friendly and fun! I can only hope all the other team discords have very similar vibes!
For my player, I feel somewhat satisfied in the first season. There were more rookie DEs than I anticipated with the posistion so I think that made it harder for the team to play us all. I hope to continue to work on the stats as the TPE goes up and further contribute into the next season. There are a lot of people that seem to put in a lot of work and attention here and I both appreciate it and applaud that. It will probably never be much more than a fun little side hobby for me. I just don't have the time budget to spend on it.
I have never been much for role playing, so media posts and most point tasks I haven't done, so money has been a little harder to come by. I know the discord payout approach is only 2 months new, but I am much more inclined to talk in the team discords for discussion rather than shouting to the void. It would be nice if team discord activity could somehow be incorporated into that payout.
I was just freshly drafted by the Chicago Butchers and look forward to what I can bring to the table when it is my time to be called up! Until then I'll stay in the pond for another season!
27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task)
I typically like to be edge, or supporting roles when I am part of a group. I don't tend to like to be a star or a diva, but still like to be very valuable. That is why I picked Defensive End. They still have the power, and the ability to make the big game changing plays and are some of the more smarter players on the field. If Defensive End wasn't available, (and more rookies chose it than I expected!) then maybe I would try a bigger role and go on the offensive side of the ball.
As a Chiefs fan, I always admire Travis Kelce and, while growing up, Tony Gonzales. So perhaps if I had to pick one I would try for the Tight End. They can obviously be a star on any given team as we see in the NFL now, but also are a vital role to the offense and need to understand how they are being used and when it is there time. Perhaps if I make it all the way through my first player, my recreate will be that!
28. Football is a game that has been going on for a while, loved by fans all over. But what if you were able to make some rule changes? Talk us through your new version of football, and what would be different and why? (Written Task)
There are many aspects that could continue to have looks at, and these spring leagues are just great for those things! But the one thing I would really like to be adjusted is not during regular game play. It is the challenge rules. Currenlty a team has 2 challenges a game and if they get both correct they get a third extra. I think it should be where if you get any challenge correct, the team should be able to keep that challenge. The point is to correct blatant miscalls by the refs. Why the possibility to be punished for a failed challenge. Luckily this is something that rarely comes up, but I can imagine a scenario in the furure where a coach challenges a very close call vital call in the first half, fails. And then there is too completely wrong calls in the second half and they can only challenge one of them and it costs them a playoff game. The league is reactionary and I bet it would get changed after that!
