Describe what type of event it was and how the day went! Were you doing a door to door can drive? Did you organize a day to serve food at the local homeless shelter? Give all the details!
I wonder what the difference between doing community outreach for local organizations and doing a charity/fundraising event? Or at least, my first thought for doing something would be to find a local Ausin charity to work with in different ways to help out the community here. I've mostly talked about working with mental health organizations here before, but I do think that working on hunger issues is also great. I've previously volunteered with Second Harvest in another city, and so I think organizing a volunteer weekend among Copperheads fans with them sounds like a great plan. For those unfamiliar, Second Harvest works to make available food that would otherwise go to waste available for those in need. As an example, a past volunteer event I've done was to look through canned food that was going to be thrown out to see if it was still ok or not. Those kinds of things are hard to do automatically and so getting volunteers involved is directly helpful. I haven't checked in with them here in Austin, though, so I'll have to see what kind of work they do here!
