When your community is a whole island and you have a community outreach event, you don't just have a little event for the community like you see on the mainlaind... You get the whole island involved. And we go big. We planned various events for the whole day. We'd split off in small groups and hit major areas of the island. Donating time at the homeless shelter, or visiting the sick kids at a hospital, or visiting the foster centers, or working on public landscaping, or cleaning up the litter on the roads. Community service during the day, and then a gigantic team sponsored luau at night. The team would have plenty of fundraising opportunities in which they would match the donations dollar for dollar and donate back to their community. Perhaps the biggest hit was "Dollar Dances" where anyone could come and dance with your favorite Hahalua. Not shocking, Ray Baker @jdc4654 had the longest line. Dude is just a stud.
