For his community outreach event, Booter McGavin and his teammate Snappy Gilmore hosted a charity golf tournament. The tournament was to raise money for local hospitals and the restoration of historical houses in the area. The tournament is held in the hometown of both players, Waterbury Connecticut and last year had over 300 participants. The event includes ways for people of all ages and skills to participate. From long drive competitions to rounds of mini golf, there is a multitude of events that are sure to drive interest. Participants that win one of the events are rewarded with various prizes from winning signed San Jose Jerseys to a round of golf with the legend himself Booter McGavin. Last year the even raised over $500,000 for the children's wing at the hospital and this year, Booter and Snappy have pledged to match all donations up made during the course of the event up to one million dollars.
