Ricky Maddox is obviously known for his love of chicken wings. Some would call it obsession. Others would call it reckless dieting habits. Well, Ricky just calls it FUEL.
I mean, how else do you think that he jumped from 255 pounds to 320 within a two year span?
The pregame routine really just involves anything that is in the area around chicken wings. Whether it's making new ideas for sauces, the right termperatures for the preparations for the wings, the method of cooking the delicious white meat all of the way through, etc. There's a method to all of this chicken wing madness that only he can understand.
"I must say, it really is a science. That's what I love about them, there's so many ways to go at them. Obviously fried, baked, naked, sauceless, grilled, boneless (even though I won't necessarily call them wings but technically they still are), sweet, hot, mild, spicy, you name it! I tried a majority but my journey in my production and prep is nowhere near complete."
On the field before every game, you can see diffeent herbs and spices next to him as he's preparing for the games, thinking and preparing different recipes for the next game and beyond. It's already know that he'll be opening a restaurant based around wings after he retires. It's one of the main reasons why he's been banking as much money as he already has (closing on $40 Million). He's been seen passing out wings to his teammates and fans of #WraithsNation during practices. Even sighting that the reason most bad things that happen are more than likely the thought of his wings clouding their mind when they need to make a play.
"I don't know what other reason it would be other than that. Hell, even I'm susceptible to think too hard about these wings. It's an addiction, and the only cure is another set of five (chicken wings)."
Next to him is usually a few Tupperware containers of assorted flavored wings on the field as he do his stretches before games. It'll be interesting to see what he comes up next, he's already up to 45 different flavors that he's been making from scratch, I'm not sure what he has next under his compression sleeve but I'll be first in line to taste whatever he's got cooking. The only question that really reamains is whether or not his love for chicken wings will overtake the love of football.
"Never."
