Danny Nedelko's welcome to the league moment was in the first game of Season 38. He had been brought up from a successful spell at the London Royals, and was playing full back, tight end and backing up the ageing Arizona incumbent running back Jay Cue Jr.
It was immediately clear that Cue was unhappy at having to share any playing time at all with the rookie who would one day take his spot.
"Who is this child? He will not be running my ball" said Cue, in heavily accented English, before spitting at a water boy. He liked to assert dominance.
Nedelko waited almost two full quarters to receive a handoff. When it came, he was ready, steaming past right tackle and cutting inside to find a seam, before being taken down for a 19 yard gain. When he got up, he looked at Cue on the sidelines and made a throat slashing gesture. Cue pouted and immediately began texting his agent to try to find a move to a team desperate enough to give carries to his old man knees.
