For the first time in my sim league experience (really only two leagues and one year) I have won a championship ring. Hilariously, it is with a player that I feel I am putting not as much effort in too as I would like. The journey to the championship has been exciting though. I created Tunkha Danstrol wanting to make a big fat bruising offensive lineman. That dream was lived for one season on the Minnesota Grey Ducks. I was picked up as a waiver claim, and 50 TPE Tunkha did what he could to make that his offensive lineman dreams happened. However, he entered the draft and left the Grey Ducks behind for bigger and wetter things. The Class A Submarine Norfolk Seaswolves! BARK BARK! When I got onto the team I was expecting to continue to be a offensive lineman but then I was asked by the GMs to swap to defensive line and I was pretty pumped about that since I played defensive line in high school. My first couple weeks I was alright, but a little mediocre. I did not foresee myself having an All Pro season at defensive end. Tunkha ended up with 9 tackles for loss, 8 sacks, and 40 total tackles. Not a bad coming out party for a guy, eh? But Tunkha was by no means the main piece to the championship. The entire defense as a whole was pretty intense. The Norfolk Seawolves led the league in tacks for loss, tackles, and interceptions. It was an intense defensive unit that showed that it could perform at a high level in all parts of the game. I believe, that it can be said, with little shadow of a doubt, that the Norfolk Seawolves are a team that were led by their defense, but won games through timely offensive play. The offense may not have been the shining star of the team, but they were above average in all categories, getting great quarterback play and a running game that was able to punch the ball into the endzone when it needed. The Seawolves led the league in rushing touchdowns with 17 throughout the season, even as the average rushing per carry was second to last in the league at a 4 yard average. This formula of proficient passing, and strong efficient running led to an offense that was able to score when needed and let the defense seize the other teams playmaking abilities. The output of this formula? An 11 and 3 record that led the entire league. This same formula, when applied to a playoff environment led to a Ultimini championship and my first ring as a sim league user. The real winners here are the users who get to celebrate their players accomplishments, and this would not have been possible without the GMs at Norfolk, Hydrium and Gumbo. These individuals clearly have the understanding of the sim that is needed to put their players in spots to succeed while also putting the best product on the field they can. To conclude this, moving forward Tunkha will need to once again reinvent himself. His one season as a defensive end will go down in history as perhaps his last one. He was an all-pro and now he need to prove to himselve and others that he will be able to perform as an offensive lineman as well. Tunkha has been informed that he is going to be an offensive lineman by his ISFL GMs and while he is sad to leave his days of sack master behind, he will use the knowledge he gained to become the enemy to those who want to bring havoc to the backfield.Tunkha will continue to do what he can to bring victories to Norfolk. God Bless the Seawolves.
