Have you ever looked around your ISFL locker room and thought to yourself: "there are not enough elderly folks here to balance out the youthful energy." While we do have some league boomers who can tell us stories of the good old days at the start of the league, we don't have enough users with that grandfatherly or grandmotherly presence that will make us feel the joy of a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie fresh out of the oven and a warm, loving, and tired smile. So, first I thought about what the league can do to attract older generations. But it is difficult given that the ISFL is an online, simulation sports league and older generations may find the multiple online/technology platforms difficult to navigate. So then I thought of an easier solution: team grandfathers/mothers! While team captains would be elected to take care of team motivation and training, focused on on-field performance, team grandfathers/mothers would take care of the team's institutional memory (although it would still slowly fade in old age) and, most critically, instill a feeling of calm and warmth in the locker room. Perhaps it would be best for them to not be a current player on the franchise (where emotions run high), but instead an older user who still has a vested interest in the happiness of the franchise. For the New York Silverbacks, a team grandfather such as @woelkers or @Bwestfield spring to mind.
