18. This task is exclusive to recreate/non-recreate rookies of the S44 class and later. The season is over and the draft is coming up. What do you bring to a team, and why should a team choose to take a chance on you next season? (Written Task)
With the S44 ISFL draft fast approaching, I’m here to tell you why I, Trent Thigpen, will be a great addition to any ISFL team. My DSFL rookie season statistics speak for themself 34 tackles, 8 TFLs and 5 sacks in 14 regular season games with the Luchadores, adding an additional nine tackles and two TFLs in two playoff games. More importantly of course is my locker room impact. After training camp and preseason allowed us rookies to prove ourselves, I was elected a team captain, my proudest rookie achievement. My goals and objectives are purely team focused, and I want to do everything I can to help bring championships to my team’s fans. While we lost the Ultimini this year, there is a tremendous amount of talent on both sides for Tijuana and Thigpen will be spending another year developing for the ISFL and working towards the goal of winning the Ultimini.
22. Make a scouting report for any of the ISFL or DSFL draftees. Show their stats, abilities, TPE, or highlights. (Written or Graphic Task)
There’s really only one ISFL draftee who matters, Trent Thigpen, so I self scouted. While I saw a detailed explanation for why it absolutely does not matter, caleb.grim put out a media article that ranked the S43 DSFL rookies by their sim rating (and secondarily by how much TPE it took to get to that rating). I didn’t hit the 250 cap with my final update in S43, but according to whatever formula calculates the sim rating, Trent Thigpen had the highest rating of all rookies with a 79 rating.
Sim Rating: 79
TPE Earned: 246
Top Attribute Spending:
Strength, 60->80, 70 TPE
Tackling, 60->80, 70 TPE
Speed, 45->70, 45 TPE
While apparently some question the formula used to calculate that rating, and while sim rating is not used in determining anything directly in the sim, it’s hard to not be impressed by that alone. Namely that as a new create rookie Thigpen nearly hit the TPE cap (technically has surpassed it at this point, but I’m basing that on the build that played the final games of the season). A high TPE earner who has (at least this is what I told myself when I asked myself) planned to maintain a max earning pace.
27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task)
I definitely would have stayed as a defender, probably would have been a toss up between LB and CB, and I think I would have gone ahead and just straight up named my player Joey Porter Jr and picked CB. I don’t think it’s against the rules to name your player after an NFL player, I assume most people don’t do it because it’s kind of lame compared to being creative or fun with it but holy cow do I want to see him succeed in the NFL and in the meantime I could have emulated him being a badass CB as my player in the ISFL. In real life, Joey Jr has said in interviews he’s not really like his dad, in terms of Peezy being one of the all time great trash talkers in the NFL. While he’s different from his dad, my Joey Jr persona in the ISFL would have been completely built around being a physical, shutdown trash talking corner.
34. New players join our teams every season, so which of those new players made the biggest impact on the field for your team? (Written Option)
That’s an easy answer, cornerback Tyrell Ramsey. There were a ton of impactful rookies on this team, but Ramsey earned three game balls on the season including one in the conference championship in one of his best performances of the season at such a clutch moment. Just over five minutes into the conference championship, Ramsey jumped in front of a pass and brought it back 36 yards for the first score of the game and to give Tijuana a huge momentum boost. He went on to add five tackles and a pass defense in a solid performance that helped bring the team to the 41st Ultimini and Tijuana’s 18th appearance as a team. That’s about a 44% appearance rate in all Ultiminis if you’re wondering. Tijuana is an incredibly successful franchise that always boasts a lot of talent on both sides of that ball. Their defense has established stars in Outlaw, Hecklenburg, and biggest in the secondary is Robert Green. It’s hard to get notice on a team with tons of splash players, Ramsey wasn’t the only rookie corner with an interception returned for a touchdown - Big Birtha may have only grabbed one as a rookie but he took it back as well. For Ramsey to have earned 3 game balls out of 15 given to defensive players is quite impressive as a rookie and ISFL teams should take notice of this hidden gem in the draft.
