10. Finally my time has come to take control and turn this league around once and for all! No, but in all seriousness I do have a couple of things about the league that I would like to fix, some more possible than others. For starters, I would like to do the impossible and get the ISFL onto the app store. I feel like an app not only makes the league more accessible to existing members, but would open the door to more potential users finding us and giving the league a chance. The forum format can feel overwhelming to people who are less familiar to them and possibly scare away new members of the community. I joined this league with a friend of mine and while he also was very busy IRL during his introduction to the league, the forum format made the league seem more complicated than it actually is. To him, it seemed difficult to get all of your weekly tasks done in a timely manner, while a seasoned vet might get their weekly tasks and update done in less than ten minuets. Any way we can simplify the user experience, like how we combined roster and update pages, makes the league more accessible for new members. Another policy I would enact is that graders should be paid more per item they grade. Currently the system is such that even grading over 100 items during the season is not enough to pay for T6 equipment and weekly training. While I'm not asking for graders to make enough money in one season to be able to not have to work again in the league, I certainly feel like grading 100+ items should be enough to pay for my upcoming season necessities. Let's bridge the gap slightly between the graders and the graphics themselves.
13. I'd like to talk about a player on the Cape Town Crash for a moment and how they made some big improvements from two seasons ago to last season and how their hard work both on and off the field is getting us ready to win our next Ultimus. The Negs stat I want to draw attention to is interceptions, this is something I've previously written about but now we get to see the final results of season 43. In season 41 when the Crash won the Ultimus, Negs had only 6 interceptions. Season 42, Negs tripled the number of interceptions with 18, which along with other factors, led to the Crash not being able to seal the deal on back to back Ultimus wins. Negs ended season 43 at 12 interceptions on the season, a third less than last season but double the amount he had in season 41 when we won the Ultimus. I've been tracking the interceptions because it feels like an easy litmus test for the Crash offense to see if we are back on the path to the Ultimus again but it's not the only Negs stat worth taking a look at. Let's take a look at touchdowns for a moment. In season 41, Negs had 25 touchdowns to go alongside those 6 INTS, a fantastic TD/INT ratio. In season 42, Negs had a whopping 34 TDs to go alongside the much increased 18 INTs. This is leading me to believe that it's possible that less is more when it comes to Negs' performance on the field. You would think that throwing an additional 9 TDs would outweigh the negatives of throwing three times as many INTs, however it seems the turnovers themselves just gave our opponents too many opportunities to put points of their own on the board. Last season we saw more of a happy medium between the TDs and INTs with 29 TDs and 12 INTs. Next season my target for Negs is 30 TDs and 10 INTs. I believe a stat line somewhere around here will give us the opportunity to be Ultimus champs once again.
