10. If I won the lottery to be the commissioner, I would keep the randomness going and introduce a lottery to the draft system here in the ISFL. I feel it is very common for teams to try and tank in our league and I think that should not be rewarded. By implementing a lottery system we can make every game count in this league and prevent blatant tanking. I don't even think it would be that impactful since we have such great recreates each season and enough talent to help any team. While this hasn't necessarily solved all the tanking issues we see in leagues like the NBA I do think it could help. The other option could be a playoff tournament (or a toilet bowl game) to decide the top pick.
Speaking of recreates... my second rule is one that would definitely be controversial within the league. The rule is simply any player who is recreated can not be drafted by the team that he was a part of when he retired. This would prevent one-team players (like myself) that are common in the league. I think this could be a great way for players to experience new locker rooms and get to know more people within the ISFL. I know for myself I am very comfortable in the San Jose locker room but would not be opposed to meeting some other individuals across the league. I think this rule would also relieve some pressure on GMs. Some may be hesitant to take a player if they think it may offend his old team or the player who was expecting to go back there. I think the more ties we develop in the league can help players keep returning and thus we keep growing this league and create the potential for even greater experiences.
14. I don't think this league is ready for expansion at this time. Looking at the past season, two teams had very bad records and the remaining of the league was within a couple of games of .500 and the final playoff spots in their conference. This shows a league that is at its peak of competition and therefore in an excellent position to maintain this moving forward. At this time I think an expansion team would only present the ability to ruin the parity we are currently seeing in the league.
Adding an expansion team would lead to the possibility of gutting teams to build out the new expansion franchise. while this may continue parity it also runs the risk of removing potential interest for some players in the league. Being part of a team that is competing week in and week out for a playoff spot and then being shipped to an expansion team could potentially kill the interest a player would have in the league. It also could kill the interest of their former teammates if they feel a key player or locker room contributor has been sent out to another team before the season. This league works hard to recruit new users so to try and have them consider losing what they have had to build towards is not ideal.
My final argument against potential expansion stems from the fact the league is not quite full yet. There are still teams that have multiple positions (usually linemen) that are filled by bots or inactive. Right now this is not too detrimental to the league but expanding to another 2 teams (can't really add one to make it an odd number) could exacerbate this problem and start creating negative effects in the league. Simply put, until nearly every position is filled with an active human player, the league risks creating a talent gap that needs to be filled with too many bots and inactives
