28. Football is a game that has been going on for a while, loved by fans all over. But what if you were able to make some rule changes? Talk us through your new version of football, and what would be different and why? (Written Task)
I hope you are sitting down, because this left field take might make you dizzy. In my eyes, kickers have never fit into the theme of football. These glorified soccer players turned punters and field goal kickers have no place on the football field. I would love to see the removal of punts, field goals, and extra points from the game. Instead, let us make teams play all four downs without the option to put or kick a field goal. No more field goals only touchdowns as an option to score. Touchdowns would count as 7 points instead of 6 and teams could have the option to go for 1 extra point with the same rules as going for 2 in today’s rules. Oh, and what about those kickoffs we have today? Also, unnecessary. Since very few kick returns get past the 25, let us not waste the time of players and fans and just start the ball on the 25. This is not soccer, let’s get back to real football.
19. Your team has announced that they will be laying ground on a new stadium next season. What additions would you like to see included in it. (Written Task)
Its official, the Minnesota Grey Ducks are getting a new stadium! This has been a long time coming, our current stadium was built on top of a pond in the outskirts of Minneapolis. With the new stadium being build downtown, it has great potential to be one of the best DSFL stadiums. Currently there are no plans for a retractable roof, however I would love to see that added to the blueprints as Minnesota weather is unbearably cold in the winter. What the stadium really needs is heated pools scattered all along the stadium allowing duck fans to cool off in the summer months or warm up in the winter months. Of course, the Ducks players would also need their own pool of water to relax and recover between plays. The final thing I would like to see is the stadium redesigned to resemble a duck in some way on the outside. I believe these three additions to the stadium would bring our new stadium to the next level.
27. Imagine your current position was not available to be picked when you created your player. What other position would you have picked, and why? (Written Task)
If my current position of linebacker was not available in the league, I would have selected something like tight end. Being a big athletic dude who is also pretty quick, it seems like the natural option. Tight end is also a really cool position, being a cross between a wide receiver and an offensive lineman. Players who are able to master both roles are something I admire. It would almost be the best of both worlds. I would get to catch the ball and run people over like a running back or wide receiver could only dream of. I would also get to block the big guys up front on running plays. I think tight ends are sometimes overlooked when it comes to offense and that is something I think I could change. I would do that by scoring touchdowns and blocking for my teammates better than any tight end in the league.
26. If your player wasn't a professional in the ISFL/DSFL, what would they be doing instead? (Written Task or Graphic Task)
If my player was not a profession in the DSFL, he would be a professional downhill mountain biker out in the Pacific Northwest. Ali grew up with a love for the outdoors whether he was camping, hiking, kayaking, or whitewater rafting. Mountain biking is the best combination of hiking and biking and its great for your mental health. Being a competitive person and a drive to be outside as much as possible, he would be competing in races all over the world, and would be dominating on his home bike parks: Timberline, Stevens Pass, and Summit at Snoqualmie. He would have a top-of-the-line carbon mountain bike, decked out with Fox Factory suspension and dropper post and Shimano Saint drivetrain and brakes. Being so good at mountain biking, he would also teach classes to help others improve their skills on the trails as well. In the winter, when the mountain bike trails turn to ski trails, he would be riding down the mountain on a snowboard!
