Task 2: (676 words)
While there may not be anything too special about the Season 44 Draft class, it is still one to be keeping an eye on throughout their careers. First overall pick Thomas Passarelli has converted from Tight End to Wide Receiver, but is still nearly topping the class, only one TPE off the current leader, Thor Bollrsveifla. This is to be expected from the number 1 overall pick, to be within spitting range of the top of the class, and I'm sure that the New Orleans Second Line is very happy about their development.Thor himself does seem to be a steal at pick 28 to the Cape Town Crash. I'm not sure why they were picked this late in the 2nd round since they don't *appear* to be a GM pick, but I could be incorrect regarding that. Third in the draft class is Lenard McRobinson, picked at 24 overall by the Ultimus champion Hahalua. The trend between Thor and McRobinson seems to be that they're both Quarterbacks, and only one QB was picked in the first round (Tua TurnDaBallOva at 8 overall, chosen by the Berlin Fire Salamanders), so it's very possible that QB was just not a position of need during this draft, and that led to some of the higher earners dropping to late 2nd round, as opposed to the 1st round. It would make sense given that all three are currently still with their minor league teams (Buccaneers for Thor, Coyotes for McRobinson, and Grey Ducks for TurnDaBallOva), so they may be currently blocked in the ISFL level. Or there could be other factors that are just going unseen by myself. 2nd overall pick was A Waffle, chosen by the Chicago Butchers. This seems like it may have been a bit of a reach as they have since fallen to 19th in the class in TPE and are still in the DSFL at the moment. Orange Julius was a similar story, picked to the San Jose SaberCats at 3 overall, and has since been called up to the team, despite falling to 20th in the class in TPE earned. Both seem to be still sticking around though, keeping active, so they have time to continue to build up the TPE. Trent Thigpen was picked at 4th overall to the Austin Copperheads, and is 5th in the class in TPE, only 20 TPE off the lead, a solid pickup by the Copperheads, the first of two, as they would next pick up Cornerback Gajeel Redfox at 20 overall, who, at risk of bragging about my own player, is now squarely seated at 14th in the class in TPE. While he's still 78 TPE off the lead, to get Redfox at 20, means the team did get a bit of a steal, as at least 6 players picked above Redfox are now below him in TPE. Thigpen and Redfox both seem to be great pickups for Austin at the moment. If you're looking for another big steal though, how about the player 6th in the class in TPE, Zenzeroni Xystarch II, who wasn't picked by the Yellowknife Wraiths until pick 23 overall. A kicker/Punter, it does make a bit of sense why they fell as the position isn't traditionally high-impact when compared to other positions, but to get the 6th best in the class at 23 is always a good feeling. Add on Pat Uncertain, a Cornerback who's 9th in the class in TPE, and didn't get chosen until pick 30, and the Wraiths might have the draft class to watch from Season 44. We'll see how it all turns out, but as of right now, the Wraiths and Copperheads might have gotten more than they may have expected with the picks they had in Season 44, while the Second Line, Crash, Hahalua and Fire Salamanders all got great picks that, are living up to expectations, and for the QBs, when they're not blocked at the ISFL level, could be massive threats in a few years. Keep an eye on this class.
