Let’s look back on the first couple of seasons for the ISFL and look at which teams won the most games and some interesting points from that.
Firstly the first IsFL season started with only six teams: Arizona, Orange Baltimore, Colorado, Yellowknife’s and San Jose’s. New Orleans and Cape Town would be added a season later.
Yellowknife, Arizona and Colorado all won their first games. With only Colorodo winning their second meaning we had our first all time game win leader. They would hold the lead until game 10 where Arizona would secure their 7th win and take the lead, Colorodo had 6, you get the picture.
That lead would again change one game later when Colorado took the lead back, before it swaped back to Arizona on game 12. Arizona would hold that lead for a long long while, until game 96 when the Orange County Otter took over.
During this time Arizona held the lead for 85 games winning 57 games in that time. A good strong dynasty for the start of the ISFL history. At 85 games into the ISFL the worst two teams where New Orleans and Colardo. New Orleans had only won 16 games, a feat that Arizona took 28 games to achieve. Colorado had secured 22 wins, which Arizona did within 30 games.
Colorado had a really lean patch near the start of the ISFL, after 30 games they’d won 17 a reasonable rate at a touch over 50%, it then took them 40 more games to reach 22 wins, however things then get worse for Colorado after that. There 23 win game after another 42 games there 102 game in the ISFL, resulting in a win rate of roughly 25%. Close to 3 seasons without a win. There season history doesn’t make it much better, going eight wins then another eight wins followed by a three win season then a 1 win season then a two win one. Then two whole seasons without a win. A really really dark patch for Colorado and thier fans. Hopefully a run of form like that won’t happen again in the ISFL. So far out of the 17 season that I’ve analysed there have only been 3 zero win seasons and Colorado have two of them. The other is held by Cape Town during the 10th season in the ISFL.
So at 97 games into the history of the ISFL the all time game winner swapped from Arizona to Orange County. Where Orange County have held the record up until 224 games in, where they secured 153 wins. Baltimore are the next closest team where they have secured 132 wins in that time period. Followed very closely by Yellowknife who have got 121 wins. Our intial leaders Arizona have secured 112 wins. It’s a very close race for 5th position with bit San Jose & Cape Town only speeates by 1 win. San Jose have 103 and Cape Town have 102. Unfortunetly there is a bit of a gap to the last two teams with New Orleans at 82 wins and then in last place are Colorado at 74 wins.
So after sixteen seasons in the ISFL, the Orange County Otters are the winners team in history and have had a several season of utter dominance.
There has never been a single unbeaten season the most has been thirteen wins which has happens four times. Arizona have achieved this twice in season two and three. The Yellowknife Wraiths secured 13 wins in season 7 and Baltimore Hawks in season 10.
NOLA had a really slow start to their history when in the first six seasons in the league they achieved 16 wins averaging 2.66 wins per season. The other expansion team who started at the same time Cape Town, in the same time period of their first six season managed 47 wins at an average of 7.33 a season.
Another stat that Colorado might not want to have is the fact they only have a max of 8 wins in any given season, every other team has had at least ten wins.
Hopefully you found that interesting, I hope to compete the full ISFL history before the start of the next season. Keep an eye out for it.
