9. In the early days of the league, back when it was still in its infancy. We saw the departure of the Wraiths Star running back and head GM. First it was just his head space and commitment levels but not long after it was him showing up all together from the games. It was a sad time in Yukon history as the founder of the Wraiths ghosted on his team. Yes he did leave the squad in very capable hands passing the reigns off to ADwyer87 who went on to have a great career in charge. But It will always be pondered on what exactly could have become of our beloved YKW if only Bubba Nuck had applied himself more and fought threw his off field demons. Imagine if you will, a world where Nuck had kept up his TPE pace right to the end of his career. Theres no doubt he would have been a Hall of Fame running back, who knows maybe the league would have even named a trophy after the young man. But its easy to say that the minute Nuck stopped applying himself and showing up for the Wraith, the team suffered as a result of it. How many championships could have been won by the powerhouse that was the early Wraith? They had a different look then most teams and a clear advantage. They were the first team to invest heavily in the Offensive Line and I feel one of the reasons why the league went to bot OL's. With the stopping power of the OL and the running ability of Bubba Nuck, the Wraith were slowly growing into a unstoppable force on the grid iron. So it's easy to see the damage that an inactive Nuck played on the game plan and build of the early Wraith.
11. Will Nuck: Age 20, 6 feet 2 inches, 220 LBS, Running Back, UBC
Will Nuck comes into the DSFL draft carrying some football pedigree. Being the grandson of one time Wraiths running back and head General Manager Bubba Nuck. The similarities in the two are uncanny! Both men had similar physical statures and love for the game, it's clear where Will gets his drive and determination on the field from.
Will hails from Yellowknife, North West Territories, the 40 year home of the Nuck clan. It seems to have worked in his favor as the young man has an affinity for playing in cold weather regions and in fact excels when the snow starts to drop. It was only natural that he stayed in a colder climate for is college ball. After receiving multiple offers to play division 1 football in the USA. He choose to stay true to his Canadian roots and sign at the University of British Columbia.
After spending 3 years with the Thunderbirds and winning 2 Canadian championships and one offensive player of the year awards. Nuck chose to enter the upcoming DSFL draft at the very last minute. Scouts have him all over the board, some have said its possible to see him go as high as the first round, while other's feel that he lacks what it takes to play with the big boys and wont make it out of the last round.
What is clear though, is that Nuck has the tools to make an impactful career if he applies himself. But his true drive and motivations are still unknown as most teams hadnt scouted him much or any in some cases. His late announcement that he was entering the draft took every one by surprise and those teams that felt they could wait with the scouting for one more season may have missed out on a budding super star.
