Task 36: PBE Affiliate: AFFILIATE
Task 24: If I were in charge of the Ultimus half-time show, one major band name pops to mind, that being the pop-punk late 2000's band, Fall Out Boy. Now I know what you're thinking, Fall Out Boy hasn't been in their heyday for a while. However, a lot of things fit into place. First of all, in the real-world universe that features the NFL and NCAA football, Fall Out Boy has been a steady presence in recent memory. They played live at the 2023 NFL Draft, they were the backing track to a Big 10 Hype video for NCAA football, and even released a new album early last year, and are still touring to promote it. Fall Out Boy as the headliner just makes a lot of sense. Add in a few smaller artists that may fit well, someone like maybe a Chris Daughtry, or a Pack Drumline (recent performers on America's Got Talent), and you've got a rocking half-time show that will amp everyone up for the second half. Task 13:Choosing a team that's not my own to write about isn't easy. But looking at the standings from last year, there's a couple that do stand out. I could focus on some of the more successful teams like the Crash, Hahalua, Silverbacks, or Hawks, but I find it's far more interesting to focus on what needs improvement on a team that maybe didn't stand out too much. And for that, there's three teams I can choose from, but I decided to go with the 3-13 New Orleans Secondline. Now NOLA has had their fair share of problems last season. Their bad record doesn't automatically tell you that they were 0-12 against teams in their division, INCLUDING, the also 3-13 Sabercats, of whose 3 wins, 2 were against NOLA. It also doesn't tell you that the Sabercats had the most amount of points against them last season, and it wasn't close. 567 points against, where 2nd place was, again, the Sabercats, with 489. 78 point difference between 1st and 2nd, more than 11 touchdowns of a difference. The Secondline also were 2nd-to-last in points for, only beating out the Chicago Butchers. So where did they go wrong? Well surprisingly, it doesn't seem to be too much of a passing problem. Rookie QB Speedings was 2nd in Passing Yards in the league. Yes, he threw 14 INTs, and isn't top 10 in Passing rating, but I think the problem seems to come moreso from the rushing game, and the defense. The defense ranked last in the league in almost all stats, and the rushing game did as well. You might be able to get away with not having as good of a rushing game, but when you look at just the scores of the games that NOLA played, the lack of defense is telling. Only 3 of their 16 games did they limit the opposing team to less than 30 points, and in 5 of the 16, they allowed more than 40, with their last game against Berlin being a blowout of 57-6. The defense definitely seems to be the area of need the most for the New Orleans Secondline, and they'll need to tighten things up there, before they will start to see improvement from their previous season.
