8. This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S45 class and later. In 300 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented?
I joined the league as a S45 rookie right after the DSFL draft. I decided to play the position of linebacker and created Ali Star. Creating a new character was straightforward and the getting started videos on YouTube were extremely helpful. I stumbled through my first update with the help of ChickenLips and Dangwookie, two friends I know who convinced me to join the league for the first time. I was picked up on waivers by Minnesota for my first season in the DSFL, which has been one of the best things that happened. Hudz and Lips are great GMs and the rest of the Minnesota locker room is welcoming and extremely helpful and fun. Earning TPE was fun and addicting early on, as there are so many things to complete: Rookie tasks, wiki creation, etc. After earning all the starting TPE, Ali Star started to perform very well in each of the Grey Ducks games becoming a leader on defense and winning game balls almost every other week. Near the end of the season, at nearly max DSFL TPE, Ali Star would go on to win the DSFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. This was super exciting to win as a new player and made me want to win more awards in the future.
Around this time, with the ISFL draft approaching, scouters and GMs began to reach out to me. At times it was overwhelming, but also was very cool to have people trying to get to know you and what you are looking for in the league. Ultimately, I was drafted to the Sarasota Sailfish and have been enjoying my time in their discord. Sizz and Abh are great general managers and have also been very helpful and supportive. I am excited to start S46 as a sailfish and hopefully win the Ultimus!
16. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?
My player, Ali Star was drafted to the Sarasota sailfish for season 45. The general managers decided that Ali would benefit from an additional season in the DSFL. Being a new member to the league, I was glad to say down for another season to get a better understanding of the league and how things work. I feel as though staying down for a second season gave me a better appreciation for the league as well as the opportunity to develop a better relationship with my fellow teammates and the other members in the Minnesota locker room.
Ali Star performed well this season as one would expect a maxed TPE linebacker to perform in the DSFL. Playing in all 14 games, Ali ended the season with 138 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, 6 sacks, 1 interception, and 1 safety. He was consistently the defensive MVP for most games of the season earning multiple game balls. Ali Star would go on to win the Defensive Player of the Year award during the DSFL S45 Award Ceremony.
As the end of the season drew near, the grey ducks were trying to make a last-minute push for a shot at an Ultimini. We ended up coming very close to a second-place finish in the North, ending just one game behind the Portland Pythons and two games behind the Kansas City Coyotes. Next season is looking extremely promising for the Grey Ducks. Ali Star will be moving on to the Sarasota Sailfish in the ISFL, but Minnesota drafted two running backs and six new defensive players and have Tuna, their starting quarterback returning for another season. I am extremely excited to watch the Grey Ducks next season despite not being a player on the team.
My new team, the Sarasota Sailfish are also looking extremely well going into season 46. After getting simed in the season 45 Ultimus, the team is planning to come back stronger than ever with the pickup of a few more players and many returning players. I am very excited to watch Ali Star play in his debut ISFL season this year.
