2. Tell us about your draft class. Is there anything that makes it special in comparison to other classes? Where did your fellow draftees land, how are they doing? Did anyone turn out to be an unexpected steal of that draft based on what you know today? Do you think anyone in your draft class will become a hall of famer? If you’re new to the league, how do you think your class will do? Where do you think people will get drafted to?
I believe that the season 42 draft class has the potential to go down as one of the best all time, with several players in this class having a very solid shot at making it into the hall of fame. It is very rare that draft classes are able to be so extremely well rounded, but there are truly elite players at literally every single position. Even with some players in the class being somewhat "mid-earners," they are still active and putting work in, contributing to their team. For example, one of the lowest tpe actives at the moment is Eliot Bukowski, kicker for the Orange County Otters, and despite his relatively low earning (~500 TPE off of the class leader) he is still a great kicker and is going to be kicking for one of the best offenses in the league. And I'm not only saying that because I drafted him in fantasy.
Anyways, let's dig a little bit deeper into the class. Funnily enough, this class's top 3 earners are all the same position, and that is cornerback, AND they were all first round picks. Almost more interestingly though, is the story surrounding each player, which each having a very different career arch. The first player picked was Dino Nuggets by the New Orleans Second Line, however, he was traded to the Baltimore Hawks in what will go down as one of the most controversial trades of the century, with an additional first being thrown into the deal days later (spicy!), and while statistical success has not followed him quite yet, the future looks bright. But again, 1oa pick that got traded out for nothing, big oof to NOLA on that one (ignore that it was so he could become a GM). Heiiajs D. Owidhuse (anyone know how to pronounce?) was the next CB taken, and he was taken by Chicago, and he has since become the GM of the team and is looking to bring them out of their rebuild. He's been all you can ask for out of a first round corner, with above average statistical success and zero drama. Blacksmith Andrew was the next CB tak- wait, an offensive lineman??!@. Yes, he was drafted as a 300+ pound behemoth and transitioned to cornerback in year 3 in order to better fit with the San Jose Sabercat timeline. While no success has been found quite yet, for both himself and SJS, the future certainly seems bright for these guys. However would I say any of them are on pace for the HOF? I would not. But the prime of their career is just starting and this is where HoF is decided so we shall see.
Some of the players most likely to make the Hall so far seem to be running back Ace Anderson and wide receiver Keanu Calhoun (yes I'm going to talk about myself that's why I chose this prompt). It is crazy to think that not only was Ace Anderson originally an OL in the DSFL, but that these two future ISFL legends were actually teammates? Anywho, Ace is 8 yards in his rookie season away from 3 straight 1k+ rushing seasons to start his career, and counting receiving work, has 3 straight with 1200+, with the last two seasons both eclipsing 1700 scrimmage yards. The statistical performance has been there, and while he only has 1 pro bowl, just now entering the prime of his career, the time is now for Ace to complete his resume.
Keanu is in somewhat of a similiar boat, also amassing great statistics, with 4 straight seasons of 1000+ yards and 5+ TDs, with 2 pro bowls, with one 1st team AP (albeit as a returner), and a 2nd team AP (this time as a WR). Both of these players are extremely excellent players and are vital to their teams, and with great situations around them I predict these two won't miss a pro bowl for the next 5 seasons and will both easily make the hall of fame.
S42 is truly an amazing class that I for one am very glad to be apart of. The league is soon to be ours.
