14. Expansion Expansion Expansion! Tell us why you think the league should expand / not expand or include any ideas (in words) for team branding ideas you have or team locations.
The league shouldn’t expand because we’re still not at a point where an expansion would be sustainable given the size of current classes and active users. In fact, if anything, the league is trending towards contraction, but the situation is nowhere near that dramatic yet. That being said, I still think that at some point the league should have a plan for expansion should it ever come to it, and that of course there are many places and concepts for new teams which could be exploited. I have always been a big proponent of coming to my home country of Perú, but of course this is quite certainly a minority opinion given I’m one of only 2 active members who lives south of the United States. As such, I feel forced to consider options which are far less familiar to me than my own home country. At the very least, an Australian team should be on the cards if not a priority given the amount of notable users from the land down under. A Sydney team whose thematic is operatic or something along those lines, a Queensland gold diggers team given they’re one of the biggest cities in the goldcoast (although their branding may clash with the already existing Austin Copperheads but it could also be the starting point for a rivalry), the Kalgoorlie (sorry if it was misspelled I’m not an aussie) Wanderers, as a quick google search told me it was the biggest city in the Outback, or a Tasmania Devils. Staying in the Commonwealth, there is still probably room for British and Canadian teams. Of course, there are the London Royals, but quite a few other big cities are still missing. Vancouver, Alberta, BC, Quebec, Newcastle, Liverpool, Dover, Leicester, Aberdeen, Glasgow, etc. are all more than worthy candidates, though we could always go for one of the smaller cities as well.
16. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?
Last season was my last season down in the DSFL with the Norfolk Seawolves. Having been down for 3 seasons, the success the team had been able to experience was… less than ideal to say the least. While the team won the mini the season before I was drafted there, we couldn’t even make the playoffs my first season, then we massively struggled on my second season and picked second overall. While one is always hopeful that even just by pure luck you’ll be able to win the big game, there was no luck, no creativity, no cohesion, and basically nothing good last season. The Norfolk Seawolves were nothing short of a mess, the eternal “we’ll be back” promises from Thomas seeming ever distant with every loss that came our way. Of course, I was banned midway for the season, so I stopped keeping up with the results of the team. But once I came back, to my shock and horror, we were last in the league and in prime position to pick first in next season’s draft. This, of course, wasn’t exactly a pleasant sight, given we’d been rebuilding for 3 seasons and each season we just got worse. My player wasn’t able to do much given that I was demoted to WR2 for the season, and put up a lacklustre 899 yards and 5TDs on my worst year in the DSFL. At least I got over 1000 combined return yards, which was good enough to be named 1st team all-pro as a receiver. Going onto next season, it’s time to put the Seawolves behind me and join the ISFL with the Baltimore Hawks. Of course, I wish I could just somehow luck into the best season of all time, but that’s not going to happen. Going in as WR3 into the season, it’s probably going to suck, and knowing my luck, so will Baltimore. But well, I guess I’ll see. God I can’t wait to retire so I can leave this shit
