Task 3:
Heading into Season 46, the Berlin Fire Salamanders are likely looking at another rebuild as their core from Season 36-38 draftees start regressing and retiring. The two biggest changes from Season 45 to Season 46 are my retirement and trading Goat Tannk to Chicago. With me gone, Berlin has to rely on another offensive line bot which would have less TPE than me had I stayed (roughly 590 vs 550 bot the team bought). This makes the offensive line the worst it has been since the seasons where Berlin fielded no human offensive line. The other human offensive lineman are low TPE players not earning at 285 and 350 as well. I personally have seen what happens when a team does not have an adequate offensive line and it drags the entire offensive into the mud. The other roster change was trading away Goat Tannk. While I certainly agree with the move of trading Tannk for a 1st Round pick, this still objectively hurts the Fire Salamanders roster for Season 46. Tannk at the start of Season 46 sits at 950 TPE post regression, compared to his replacement on the roster in 230 TPE rookie D'Jasper Probincrux IV. For a team that already had trouble getting sacks (sat below league avg. at 49), this will make their pass rush even more pedestrian in Season 46.
The other affects on this team was regression to several key players. The biggest target of this is QB Adrian St. Christmas. He got hit with his 3rd round of regression and fell to 740 TPE to start the season, essentially tied last with rookie Thor Bollorsveifla in Cape Town. Your entire offense going through a 700 TPE quarterback, especially when that offense was league average at best in one of the most pass heavy offenses in the ISFL is a cause for concern. Wide Receiver Really Creative-Name regressing again also hurts matters, which forced Tight End Nick Williams to swap to wide receiver to plug the WR2 gap. Trying to switch to a more balanced offense will have problems as well because of the aforementioned weak offensive line and Armor Queen regressing again. Queen sits at 715 TPE after a second hit of regression and will sit there due to Season 46 being a corpse season. Queen is also a receiving back which makes downhill running less effective.
In the linebacking core, both Jordan and Kevin McThumper hit regression again and are below 500 TPE. This leaves the Fire Salamanders with one linebacker over 800 TPE, and this defense always had problems in terms of covering tight ends and running backs. Further pass defense is marred by the regression of Charlie Thorsen and Laszlo Forty-Two. Thorsen is still over 900 TPE and will at least be a good option at CB1, but Laszlo sits just over 600 TPE and will make Berlin's aggressive defensive scheme much riskier than before.
All in all, this is definitely a year where expectations aren't high after the past 2-3 seasons expecting contention. Their Ultimus windows has closed for now and will require time and good drafting to come to fruition. They have good developmental pieces already with rookies D'Jasper Probincrux IV and CB Devin Jones, along with loaned players in RB Willie Swaggert, WR Pitter Patter, and Safety PeePee Poop-Eater Jr. Their heir apparent to Adrian St. Christmas is in the organization in Tuna Turndaballova. With Season 47 being an r/nfl draft as well, Berlin can quickly build a sturdy core to contend in a few seasons. This is of course dependent on good drafting and the sim deciding we're allowed to win more than nine games again.
