The New York Silverbacks have never been a particularly big spender in free agency, preferring to wait and nab up deals for players other teams overlook, or stay out of it entirely. Being much happier to build through the draft, new additions often come a year or even 2 after their selection. This year’s rookie class of Lyle Taylor at 3rd safety behind Loose Cannon and Matthew Fryers may not seem at first like a massive addition, and whilst he may not have the biggest year 1 impact, his spot as future strong safety once Fryers moves on is set and will pay dividends in further seasons.
It’s difficult to talk about other additions, as the Silverbacks S46 offseason was more about subtraction than addition, with the loss of longtime Silverbacks Regina Ferraro, and Dax Dangerfeld.
As the season goes on, the older players will build themselves back up and the newer ones will continue to improve, building a strong future, both for this season and beyond, for the New York Silverbacks.
