Berlin is an ageing team so naturally the Season 46 Draft was an important one for the future of the team. With one of the older rosters in the league, it certainly made sense for Berlin to make some moves. The first big one was getting the 5th overall selection in the draft by trading veteran defensive end Goat Tannk to Chicago. Certainly a sad day for Berlin seeing one of their best and loyal players depart, but this was the move that allowed Berlin to pick up Devin Jones. A promising cover corner who gets the opportunity to learn from Charlie Thorsen and be the future cornerstone at cornerback. Jones gets an immediate call up and will see the field initially as the team's nickel back.
Scheduled to pick at 8th overall as well, Berlin traded back to 11th overall to pick up safety PeePee Poop-Eater Jr. A second defensive pick, once again in the secondary, the Fire Salamanders get one for the future. While not being called up right away, the opportunity will certainly be there as Lazlo and Diggs both enter the twilight of their careers.
Berlin selected D’Jasper Probincrux IV in the 2nd round, a defensive end who received an immediate call up to fill the void of Goat Tannk. Certainly big shoes to fill but with Clint Mustache to learn from, there's a veteran who can help the rookie adjust to life in the ISFL. Probincrux IV should see the field a fair bit this season and hopefully he'll continue to grow and become a stalwart on Berlin's defensive line for seasons to come.
