In his final year of study at Berklee College of Music, Brad Woof made a seemingly insignificant decision.
His club football team, the Jazz Cats, had just finished their third consecutive perfect season of intramural play. Somehow the news of this feat reached the ears of the athletic director at Boston College, and an offer was made. BC was looking to host a fundraising event and offered the undefeated Jazz Cats a chance to play the BC Eagles in an exhibition match. The Jazz Cats needed funding for their future so the choice was simple. Even if they got obliterated, the money would provide the team with enough of a budget to continue for several years, so Captain Woof said yes.
This decision would define Woof's career. What if he had said no? The Jazz Cats would never complete their stunning defeat of the Eagles and Woof would never be noticed and invited to the DSFL draft.
Instead, Woof would graduate with his degree in High-Intensity Speed Jazz and spend his days touring with his band, the Hound Dogs. They would certainly be successful, Woof's talent would see to that, but they would never reach the level of fame or acclaim he had hoped for out of music. They would win several awards in various "best new artist" categories, but largely be unnoticed afterwards. After eight years of attempting to break into the larger music scene, Woof would disband the Hound Dogs and join his parents in their ensemble, The Flavour. Woof's music career would eventually be one of the classic tales of great talent but no recognition, and his incredible football skill would be entirely forgotten by the wayside.
Luckily, Brad Woof is here and is going to make sure he is remembered.
