I think biggest turning point in Ace's career has been his development from a Speed Back into a Receiving Back. It's a slight change, but the difference has been noticeable in terms of his output since the change. Sarasota's offensive ethos has always been "Pass first, ask questions later" and a primarily ground based running back just didn't fit the scheme. In his first season with the Sailfish, Ace rushed for just under 1000 yards with 7 rushing touchdowns and 339 receiving yards with just 1 touchdown. Fast forward to his second season with the Sailfish, with the addition of the two primary receiving back traits, Ace's production jumped up to 1141 yards with 13 touchdowns on the ground. Massive improvements were seen in his receiving game, where Ace was able to almost double his receiving yardage, racking up 610 receiving yards and 5 touchdowns. Making these changes allowed to Ace to become a better puzzle piece in the Sarasota offense, matching their scheme, and giving him more opportunities to make an impact.
