Prior to college, Emile had played some cornerback during high school. While moving to receiver full time during his junior year, a return to cornerback wasn't off the table after joining the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa football team. With snaps limited on offense during his freshman season, a move back to the secondary was something that was floated. Ultimately, Emile knocked back the suggestion and opted to stick it out and wait for an opportunity at wideout. What would've happened if Emile had opted to move into the secondary? Who knows. Life as a cornerback may have been more fruitful and perhaps Emile would've avoided the lingering injuries which plagued his junior year at college. Needing time to adjust to life as a corner would've likely seen Emile stay in college for his senior year rather than declaring for the DSFL Draft after his junior year. There's no shortage in the demand for good corners so perhaps a bit more interest would've been garnered had he switched to corner in college.
