Toller Retriever was bred to be a guide dog, but failed the tests horribly. He transitioned into training as a service animal, but couldn't handle the job requirements there either. His siblings all enjoyed their jobs in the service industry, and he really wanted to be like them - had he not found football that one day in the high school fields, he may have tried harder to tamp down his excitement and energy and gotten lazy and sleepy instead. It's also likely that he could have seen another sport - frisbee or basketball or baseball, and fallen in love with that sport instead and trained as an athlete in that field. But, it remains that he saw those kids playing football that day when he was failing as a service animal, and he loved sprinting across the field. A baseball or a frisbee might have been easier to catch, but Toller likes a challenge.
