Every player makes decisions for themselves and every team makes decisions that impact their players on a regular basis. These decisions happen so frequently and sometimes we don’t even realize the long term implications of some of those decisions. Sometimes it works out for the best, sometimes it doesn’t. For Harley Andrews, one decision that really shaped the trajectory of his career was the decision to switch from defensive end over to the cornerback position. Prior to the switch, you could argue that Andrews was on pace for a Hall of Fame career as a defensive end. The level of success he enjoyed on the D-line didn’t quite transfer to cornerback though. Andrews struggled to make a real impact on the stat sheets and was never really viewed as a top tier cornerback even in his prime. I can’t say I would change anything though as the move allowed the Sailfish to showcase their two young defensive ends earlier than they would have if Andrews occupied a spot on the D-line.
