Sarasota’s playoffs hopes are balanced on a knife’s edge right now. We’re 4th in the conference but only a game behind Yellowknife and Cape Town. Unfortunately we already lost to both teams earlier in the season; fortunately we have rematches coming up in the next two weeks, and both games are at home. Winning those two games would place us no worse than a three-way tie in the playoff race.
We also play the 3-9 Yeti and 10-2 Hawks; the Baltimore game is scary on paper but we’re responsible for one of those losses - we got by them 14-9 in week 5. We’ve also shown a knack for winning close games, with four single-digit wins including three in a row before our loss to New York (where we fell apart in OT and committed two terrible defensive penalties on the game-losing drive).
If we can continue our winning ways, we’ll enter the playoffs on a streak and could be a real threat to any team in the league. So despite the .500 record there’s reason for optimism in Sarasota.
