Tier 2: 16. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?
When you and your team go 12-2, there are a lot of highlights to choose from. Starting the season 7-0 was amazing, and the ending to game 7 vs Tijuana was Dexter's highlight of the season. Down 3 with 1:52, the Royals got the ball back at their own 27 with 1 timeout to work with. Dexter completed big plays with TEs Goto Imnegs.net and Lakin Makin before connecting with Secret Squirrel for the game winning touchdown with 37 seconds left. This game winning drive in 1:15 with 1 timeout was by far my favorite Dexter moment in S48, especially since it kept the undefeated streak going. At least until the next game when Dexter was in the same situation against the same team and threw a game losing interception to Liggy Jiggy, for the 2nd lowest moment of the season (technically this did not happen in the cannon DSFL but I refuse to acknowledge the resim). The absolute lowest moment was throwing an interception late in the fourth quarter against the Grey Ducks in the playoffs. Dexter once again failed at saving his team and let them down, leading us to being eliminated in the first round. This was unquestionably the low point of the season for me. To make matters worse, Minnesota proceeded to lose to Tijuana in the Ultimini. What an awful playoffs, am I right? As for next season, I am hoping Dexter can do even remotely as well as he did this season. He will be at DSFL cap for the entire season this time, and not just for the final two games. I really, really want to win an Ultimini next season. A lot of our great players will be returning and I trust my general managers to have us perform well in the sim next season, so contending for a championship is completely reasonable. (311)
Tier 3: 30. Choose one existing award. Tell us why you think a certain player should win that award this season. Stats, or anything else possible should be used to support your case. (Written or Graphic Task)
Well this surely is an easy one. Dexter is currently leading the community ballot for DSFL MVP, and rightfully so. I'm not too motivated by individual awards, but Dexter had an amazing season and deserves to be awarded the MVP. Dexter had the highest passer rating among DSFL QB's by over 12 points. Most TD's by 5. Tied for fewest INT's with Qiller who had 1/3 of the passing attempts. Highest completion percentage too. The only passing stat that Dexter did not lead among QBs is yards, where he finished 3rd. Yet, Dexter still finished with a higher yards per attempt than the two QB's above him. And neither of those QB's led their team to a 12-2 regular season record (please ignore Greg Hirsch beating Dexter's Royals in the playoffs ). Dexter had a top 10 DSFL QB season of all time and deserves to be rewarded. And do not forget that Dexter was a rookie, so he did not start out at the DSFL cap as his competitors did. When you look at the competition at other positions, players like Brandon Johnson and Benny The Jet had amazing seasons, but did not stand out so visibly amongst their peers nearly as much as Dexter did. The decision is obvious and I hope the voters do not get this wrong, since it would be amazing to have my player recognized at that level, even if I would rather have won the Ultimini. Thank you to my offensive players for making plays, my defensive players for getting the ball back so often, and the London GMs and war room for putting Dexter in a position to succeed with their strategies. Tier 3: 33. When looking at the teams we have in the ISFL and DSFL, is there any team you believe is in need of a major rebrand or update to their current branding? Why or why not? (Written Task)
When I did this task last offseason, I focused on the DSFL and singled out the Portland Pythons. This time, I want to pick an ISFL team. This is a tough choice as a lot of ISFL branding is great and/or iconic. With that in mind, the team I think most needs a refresh is the Colorado Yeti. They have had their current logo for a very long time, but recently they have been a very, very bad team. Since they won't be bad for much longer, this would be the perfect opportunity to refresh their branding and enter a new age of Yeti football. And the be quite honest, they can do a lot better than a C with the silhouette in it. I am not artistically inclined so I am not sure what a better logo would look like, but there has to be something. Other contenders were the Austin Copperheads, mostly for this not looking great in my opinion, and the Sarasota Sailfish, because on the index their logo is literally just a picture of a sailfish. Can they do a little better? Probably. (188)
